5 Steps to get a job in the United Nations

Description

Background:

Mercy Corps is a leading global organization powered by the belief that a better world is possible. In disaster, in hardship, in more than 40 countries around the world, we partner to put bold solutions into action — helping people triumph over adversity and build stronger communities from within.

Purpose:

With continued commitment to gender equality and social inclusion, Mercy Corps has developed our Minimum Standards for GESI integration in our programs. The Mercy Corps GESI TSU Unit and Africa Regional Office are looking for experienced GESI professionals to support multiple assignments to help our teams meet and exceed these standards. Specifically, we are looking for individuals with experience conducting GESI analyses and qualitative assessments, developing GESI strategies and capacity-building activities, and strengthening measurement frameworks with a GESI lens. The activities will respond to the needs of both the humanitarian and development programs in Mercy Corps countries of operation.

The main objective of the consultancy is to conduct GESI analysis and qualitative assessments to assist program teams in different countries in West and Central Africa. The consultant will collaborate with the country teams and implementing partners, as well as community members, to develop suitable tools and methodologies that can help find solutions to meet the specific needs of women, girls, boys, and men, people with disabilities, ethnic and religious minority communities and other underrepresented groups in the target areas.

This posting is not a current work opportunity. The purpose of this posting is for the GESI team to assemble a short list of consultants whose experience matches one or more of the following Consultant Activities. Responding to this post does not guarantee an opportunity immediately. If your experience is a good fit, please follow the application instructions at the bottom of this Scope of Work. If you are shortlisted and opportunities arise in the near future, we will contact you to respond to the specific Scope of Work for the given assignment.

Consultants should be available to work remotely and collaboratively with the Mercy Corps teams on the ground, and flexible to travel if required.
