The Statistics Department (STA) has an opening for a Budget Analyst/Senior Budget Analyst in its Resource Management Division (STARM). The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the STARM budget team in planning, executing, and monitoring STAโs budget and financial operations. The ideal candidate is a strong team player who is highly motivated and brings ownership, energy, a collaborative style, and innovation to their work. Knowledge of the IMFโs budget processes, policies and systems (both IMF01 and IMF02) would be a distinct advantage.
Under the general supervision of the Division Chief and working within a team environment that comprises budget officers, the successful candidate will contribute to the formulation of STAโs budget as well as to monitoring its implementation, and regular reporting to STA management. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to STAโs resource planning and budgeting processes for capacity development (CD) and non-CD operations across the full range of funding sources (IMF01 and IMF02).
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Supporting the management of STAโs travel budget through ongoing monitoring and forecasting and ensuring travel-related expenditures comply with IMF budget and travel policies (LADF, HNR), STX/LTX handbooks, and departmental guidelines.
Reviewing and approving expense reports, requisitions, purchase orders, vendor contracts, and invoices.
Coordinating the monthly TRACES exercise, ensuring accuracy and compliance with donor chargeback requirements; and providing staff training on TRACES and guidance on donor charging policies.
Managing year-end accruals for travel, benefits, and other expenses, in collaboration with FIN and STA divisions.
Assisting with budget management for STA seminars/workshops and overseeing STAโs interpretation/translation budget.
Supporting the preparation of STAโs medium-term budget and budget analytics to inform departmental planning and quarterly management reporting.
Monitoring petty cash usage via the Incidental Expense Reimbursement system and P-card expenditures, ensuring compliance with Fund guidelines and P-card policy.
Collaborating with OBP, FIN, HRD, ICD, ITD, and other departments to resolve journal adjustments, budget errors, and ensuring accurate reporting across financial systems (iBBIS, CDMAP, TRACES, PeopleSoft).
Supporting personnel cost monitoring and forecasting, including serving as back-up for STA Budget Officers.
Liaising with interdepartmental working groups, contributing to discussions on budgeting, resource management, and financial reporting as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Educational development typically acquired by a University Degree, or equivalent, in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field (or a minimum of two years of experience at Grade A05).
Additionally, the successful candidate is expected to have:
Strong knowledge of the Fundโs budget procedures including IMF01 and IMF02, and financial systems (IBBIS, CDMAP, TRACES, PeopleSoft), including the ability to run queries and analyze financial data;
Well-developed quantitative ability, including proficiency in Excel and its pivot function and ability to organize large quantities of data;
Understanding of the Fundโs travel guidelines and policies for staff, long- and short-term experts;
Demonstrated data analytic skills, sound judgment, and the ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines; and
Strong oral and written communication skills

This vacancy shall be filled by a 3-year Term appointment in accordance with the Fundโs new employment rules that took effect on May 1, 2015.
