The Freeman Chair in China Studies is a leading source of insight and analysis on Chinaโs evolving political system and the dynamics that impact its domestic policy agenda and external behavior. Our mission is to shape the public policy debate by providing timely and objective analysis that challenges the status quo and informs policymakers and the public on the most important issues impacting Chinaโs political trajectory.ย
The Freeman Chair is seeking a full-time researcher to join the program as an Associate Fellow and provide dedicated support for research projects on Chinese domestic politics and decision-making, Chinaโs foreign policy and international engagement, and cross-Strait relations, among other topics. Weโre seeking a motivated self-starter with demonstrated research skills and superior English-language writing ability. Candidates should have the ability to independently and creatively research in both Chinese- and English-language documents. This is not an entry-level position.
The minimum salary for this role is $70,000.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
โขย ย ย ย Researching and writing on issues related to China in support of the programโs director and deputy director
โขย ย ย ย Assisting in collecting and analyzing primary and secondary source documents
โขย ย ย ย Drafting research memos, briefs, and reports in support of research projects
โขย ย ย ย Drafting and managing grant proposals and post-project grant reports in support of program funding objectives
โขย ย ย ย Proofreading and editing outgoing publications
โขย ย ย ย Assisting in program management and event planning and staffing when needed
KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:ย
Superb writing and editing skills Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities Exceptional analytical abilities combined with strong sense of creativity Strong communication and interpersonal skills Three to five years of qualitative research experience Mandarin Chinese reading and research skills are a plus, but not required for this positionย
