Mission and objectivesUNHCRโs operations in Moldova are part of the Multi-Country Office in Budapest. We follow and comment on developments in policy, legislation, and the daily practice of refugee protection. We are working with the Moldovan government and partner organizations. We are committed to creating public support for asylum-seekers, refugees and stateless persons.
ContextThe 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) is an annual international campaign that kicks off on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until 10 December, Human Rights Day. Every year, the UNITE Campaign focuses on a specific theme. The campaign calls on citizens to act to end violence against women and girls by engaging in different activities and initiatives at the community and national levels. UNHCR, in cooperation with UNV, has established a Special Programme Initiative, aiming at engaging UN Volunteers to support UNHCR and in particular, the 16 Days of Activism against GBV in Moldova. The selected UN Community Volunteers will assist UNHCR team in Moldova in: โข Awareness, Advocacy and Outreach: Supporting UNHCR to organize local events, and online communication campaigns, to amplify messages about ending violence against women. In addition, selected UN Community Volunteers will engage in creative activism through art and community outreach, raising awareness and promoting stories of youth and their caregivers.
Task DescriptionThe UN Community Volunteer will: โข Undergo training processes and activities undertaken by UNHCR under the 16 Days of Activism against GBV Campaign. โข Support coordination with partners, civil society, and government stakeholders involved in the campaign. As well as with other UNHCR units. โข Assist UNHCR to organize activities jointly with partners that raise awareness of violence against women and girls at the community level under the campaign framework. โข Provide logistical support (venue arrangements, invitations, participant lists, materials preparation). โข Engage community members, volunteers, and leaders in spreading messages of ending gender-based violence. โข Assist UNHCR to organize and facilitate small group discussions or meetings to educate the public about the 16 Days of Activism campaign. โข Perform other related tasks as required to ensure the successful implementation of the campaign. โข The UN Volunteer will be based at UNHCRโs Office in Chisinau and will undertake missions as required to support implementing activities.

Living conditions and remarksThis is a volunteer assignment, not employment. By sharing your time, energy, and talents, you can support communities in need and become part of something greater than yourself โ a global movement for peace, development, and humanitarian aid. Volunteering strengthens trust, solidarity, and reciprocity among citizens, promoting a sense of belonging and purpose. - If the selected UN Community Volunteer is required to travel or attend specific events, travel and daily meal expenses will be covered by the Host Entity. - Upon successful completion of the assignment, UN Community Volunteer will receive a UNV Certificate of Service. - The UN Volunteer will receive UNV-provided CIGNA medical insurance coverage for the duration of the assignment. - There will be no payment, stipend, or any allowances. Remarks: Important: In addition to duty station specific vaccine requirements, appointments are subject to confirmation of fully vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the appointment. UN Volunteer supporting Special Programme Initiative in the Europe and Central Asia region: The support provided by the UN Volunteer for events supporting the host UN entity in the region of Europe and Central Asia is a Special Programme Initiative (SPI) by UNV. SPIs respond to volunteer-specific needs of the United Nations system and donor entities. They are established by specific policy documents that address the desired programmatic aims and broader SDGsโ outcomes in line with UNV guiding principles. UN Volunteers for this SPI in the Europe and Central Asia region are governed by the particular conditions set out in their offers and contracts.
