Job Summary The Deputy Chief of Staff is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing executive communications, strengthening the CEOโ€™s engagement with key stakeholders, providing high-level counsel to the CEO, and advancing operations in the Office of the President. This role serves as a bridge between executive leadership, fundraising teams, and CAREโ€™s Content Center of Excellence, ensuring alignment in the CEOโ€™s messaging, thought leadership, and donor engagement efforts. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong grasp of global issues, current events, and trends, as well as the ability to handle high-profile engagements with diplomacy and precision. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional writing skills, executive presence, and a deep understanding of organizational priorities to amplify the CEOโ€™s voice and influence across internal and external platforms. Responsibilities Fundraising & Key Stakeholder Engagement Serve as liaison between the Office of the President, Content Center of Excellence, Advocacy, and Fundraising teams to ensure strategic alignment, efficient ways of working, and seamless communication. Advance CEOโ€™s donor stewardship efforts, including review of briefing materials and refining personalized outreach strategies, in partnership with the Senior Advisor to the CEO and Fundraising team. Review and help prioritize CEOโ€™s external engagement opportunities; streamline and oversee corresponding preparation internally (e.g., briefings and talking points) Lead CEO travel (international and domestic) planning, including itinerary development, local engagement, and external interactions before, during, and after trips. CEO Communications Oversee executive correspondence for the CEO, ensuring clarity, consistency, responsiveness, and alignment with organizational priorities. Maintain a streamlined process for review and approval of key communications, keeping CEO informed of critical developments. Provide rapid responses for time-sensitive correspondence. Uphold a high standard of professionalism and discretion in all communications. External Relationships and Profile Partner with the Chief of Staff to optimize CEO prioritization, ensuring a strategic and forward-looking approach to maximize organizational impact. Drive the strategic management of the CEOโ€™s scheduling, prioritizing high-value external engagements (e.g., media appearances, speaking opportunities, and donor events). Oversee the CEOโ€™s profile and external positioning, collaborating across teams to maintain a cohesive communications strategy, including speeches, talking points, and thought leadership content that reflect the CEOโ€™s vision and organizational goals. Special Projects Lead special projects that advance the CEOโ€™s strategic priorities (including but not limited to crisis task forces, stakeholder convenings, etc.) Provide back-up support within the Office of the President for day-to-day operations as needed
