The MRP is a migrant-focused humanitarian and development response strategy for vulnerable migrants from the Horn of Africa traveling along the Eastern and Southern Route. The MRP 2025-2028 includes a four-year strategy whose objectives are to ensure protection assistance to vulnerable migrants in the Horn of Africa, support durable and development-oriented approaches to return and sustainable reintegration, strengthen the protection of migrants in the Horn of Africa by building capacities of governments, and analyze trends of migration between the Horn of Africa, Southern Africa, and Yemen.

  1. Provide administrative and basic technical support to Monitoring and Evaluation tasksย for the unit in terms of coordination (monitoring, quarterly financial tracking) as well as programme management (tracking achievement, final reporting, means of verification, etc.).ย 
  2. Support administrative coordination of project implementation, involving liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process and follow-up on administrative actions, etc.ย 
  3. Participate in the partner consultations and information forums for developing various indicators and data standards for the data required for developing the knowledge base and measuring the achievements of multi-year response strategy and annual response plans of MRP framework.ย 
  4. Assist in the following up and organizing activities under MRP workplans.
  5. Retrieve, compile, summarize and present information from workshops, training and meetings pertaining to MRP activities.
  6. Draft correspondence, reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentations and other forms of documentation.
  7. Support in organizing meetings, workshops and training sessions mainly under the component one of the MRP programme.
  8. Support the writing of the annual and final narrative reports in a timely manner.
  9. Assist in the consolidating country-based information for the MRP framework and projects to ensure consistency and coherence across countries in the region, and support in the monitoring of data collection processes and the overall data management activities including encoding, storing, and transferring data as well as processing and support in the analysis of the collected data and information locally.ย ย ย 
  10. Assist in identifying and documenting good practices and lessons learned; contribute to the development of Standard Operations Procedures (SOP), guideline, policies and concept papers and provide administrative support in the development of new projects.

  12. Perform other related duties as assigned.ย  Education
    • Bachelorโ€™s degree in political or social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with two (2) years of relevant professional experience. Or,
    • High school degree with at least (4) four years of relevant professional experience. Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. ย  Experience
      • Experience working in an emergency context,ย supporting ย coordination and project management function
      • Experience working in the region or continent with UN or International Non-Governmental Organizationsย 
      • A minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience inย supportingย humanitarian affairs, emergency preparedness, crisis/emergency relief management, rehabilitation, development, project management, budget management, or related area is required. Skills
        • Good knowledge of the programme management cycle.
        • Strongย report writing skills, including for developing results matrices and log frames and critical analysis; and,
        • Strong writing and communication skills; ability and proven track record to prepare and present clear and concise reports in English
        • Computer skills and knowledge of relational databases, Microsoft applications spreadsheets, word processing, etc. is essential.
        • Personal commitment, flexibility, efficiency, and drive for results; ability to perform research and make effective decisions under time pressure.ย 
        • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds.
        • Ability to work with a wide cross-section of research partners: Government, NGOs, communities, academic institutions, media, and international donors.
        • Hard working, good team player, dedicated, ability to monitor and follow up on pending matters
        • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure with minimum supervision.
        • Strong analytical and creative thinking skills. Languages

          Fluency in English (oral and written). Working knowledge of French; and/or any other UN Official language is advantageous.
