Duties and ResponsibilitiesBackground: Desertification, along with climate change and the loss of biodiversity, were identified as the greatest challenges to sustainable development during the 1992 Rio Earth Summit. Established in 1994, the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) is the sole legally binding international agreement linking environment and development to sustainable land management. The Convention seeks to support countries in addressing Desertification, Land Degradation, and Drought (DLDD). (www.unccd.int) The G20 (or Group of Twenty) is the annual international forum for the governments of 19 industrialized countries and the European Union (EU). The G20 Leaders' Declaration, issued on Sunday, 22 November 2020, launched a \"Global Initiative on Reducing Land Degradation and Enhancing Conservation of Terrestrial Habitats\" (G20 GLI). Building on existing initiatives and on a voluntary basis, the G20 countries share the ambition to achieve a 50 percent reduction in the amount of degraded land by 2040. The G20 GLI with oversight from UNCCD, will focus on capacity building, engaging the private sector and civil society and showcasing success. The G20 Global Land Initiative at United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification acknowledges the immense impact and outreach potential of immersive digital content and requires a skilled video production and editing consultant to create engaging, informative and impactful video products that amplify its messages and activities. The consultant will have expertise to produce cutting-edge interactive video and related-content for the G20 GLI YouTube account. The Director, under the oversight of the Executive Secretary of the UNCCD, manages the Initiative Coordination Office (ICO). The Consultant will report directly to the Programme Management Officer. Duties and Responsibilities: • Produce video concepts and products for Youtube that align with G20 GLI goals and activities. • Based on the available editorial calendar, propose, prepare and agree on a production calendar and the specific assets to be prepared and ensure required resources are requested for in time to meet deadlines. • Plan and prepare scripts or storyboards and produced concise, clear and engaging narratives. • Edit raw footage to produce polished videos, incorporating audio, graphics, animations, subtitling, language translation and sound effects, as required including in different languages. • Optimize products for the G20 GLI Youtube account, considering aspect ratios, durations, platform-specific features, and in line with the G20 GLI Brand Guide. • Ensure content adheres to G20 GLI branding and representation guidelines and meets UN and industry standards of crediting and copyrighting materials. • On request, attend G20 GLI meetings and missions or accompany G20 GLI Staff to gather film footage and photographs on site where required. • Handle all production aspects, including pre- and post-production processes of video shooting and related logistics such as setting up equipment, lighting, sound, and directing subjects, talent or other camera operators. • Handle editing of podcast files, ready for publication on youtube and other platforms. • Ensure products are reviewed internally, feedback and revisions from UN and other critical or required stakeholders is incorporated where needed, and the final product is cleared for publication. • Work closely with the communications, social media and all relevant substantive teams to advice and align on messaging and distribution strategies for Youtube to ensure maximum impact. • Advise on best practices for dissemination of products made to maximize reach, impact and engagement in Youtube. • Track performance metrics, including views, shares and engagement rates and provide insights and recommendations for improving Youtube video content strategy. • Sort and store photographs, film footage and other materials gathered to facilitate accessibility to team and archiving for long term use. Qualifications/special skills- A minimum of Bachelor´s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, digital media, journalism, law, social sciences or a related field. - Minimum 2 years of working experience in filming, video and film production and post-production is required. - Experience producing and editing teasers and video assets for different Youtube, including interpreting their analytics, is required. - Understanding of brand positioning and experience in maintaining brand consistency is required. - An understanding of environmental challenges, land restoration and sustainable practices is desirable. - Previous experience in working in the UN is desirable. LanguagesFluency in English language, both oral and written, is required. Fluency in another UN language is an advantage. Consultant and individual contractor is responsible for determining tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws. For remote consultancies, the selected candidate will be required to have a laptop or desktop PC (with Windows 10 or newer) or Mac (with the latest MacOS update), as well as a reliable, high-speed internet connection. An Office 365 license will be provided by the UNCCD to enable the candidate to access official emails, SharePoint, OneDrive and other office applications, such as Word and Excel. Further computer requirements: An antivirus application which receives regular updates; Browsers must be a newer version with regular updates enabled; Regular Windows 10 updates should be enabled with Windows laptop or PC.
