A place to make a difference:
In this full time, maximum term role (to June 2027, with potential for permanency), based in Kununurra, youโll work in partnership with local youth justice stakeholders to support young offenders aged 10-18, with the aim of reducing re-offending. As part of our Kununurra Case Work Team, youโll report to our Team Leader.
You will make a difference by:
Engaging and building rapport with at-risk children, young people, families and community members Supporting young people to increase safety, positive community engagement, life skills and cultural connection Providing practical support, mentoring and advocacy for young people and their families (as required) with complex needs Collaborating with government and non-government services to work towards common goalsA place to feel valued:
Youโre a highly flexible youth worker who is calm under pressure and loves to have a positive impact when working with traumatised youth. You have plenty of energy and a can-do attitude, which will help you make long-lasting relationships with disengaged youth and their families. Youโre resilient, not afraid of a challenge, and importantly youโre comfortable working in remote and rural settings.
This role requires:
Demonstrated skills and experience in working with young people, in particular Aboriginal young people Demonstrated experience in case management A minimum of a Diploma in Youth Work, Psychology, Social Work (or a related field), or significant equivalent experience Driverโs licenceA place to belong:
