Mission and objectivesUN Women is the United Nations entity dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. A global champion for women and girls, UN Women was established to accelerate progress on meeting their needs worldwide. UN Women supports UN Member States as they set global standards for achieving gender equality, and works with governments and civil society to design laws, policies, programmes and services needed to ensure that the standards are effectively implemented and truly benefit women and girls worldwide.

ContextThe 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is a global campaign running from 25 November to 10 December. In 2025, UN Women Uganda will lead national efforts to raise awareness, amplify survivor voices, and call for stronger action to end violence against women and girls. As part of these activities, we seek two online volunteers to draft compelling articles that highlight challenges, progress, and advocacy messages in Uganda.

Task Descriptionโ€ข Draft 1โ€“3 high-quality articles (total 5,000 words) on gender-based violence in Uganda, aligned with campaign messaging. โ€ข Copyedit and proofread drafts provided by UN Women Uganda. โ€ข Ensure articles are concise, coherent, and use consistent gender equality terminology. โ€ข Collaborate with the communications team to refine content for digital and print publication. โ€ข UN Women will provide drafts to them to copy edit separate from articles they will have written. Deliverables โ€ข 1โ€“3 drafted articles (total 5,000 words, in English). โ€ข Edited and proofread versions of all articles. โ€ข Final compiled set of articles ready for publication (Word and PDF). โ€ข Style/terminology guide (2โ€“3 pages) for consistent drafting across campaign materials.
