1. Objective of the assignment
The Web Communications Section creates new / updates existing web pages for WIPOโs services, programs and products as well as informational/thematic pages and stories on the role and benefits of intellectual property.
The Web Content Consultants would be available on an on-demand basis to create digital communication strategies and web information architecture for new pages and draft optimized web content for publication on wipo.int
2. Deliverables vary between assignments but include:
(a) Create a digital communications strategy for new and revamped pages โ including communication objectives, audience, content type and platforms - based on web analytics and in alignment with the Organization's communications and business goals;
(b) Define information architecture and produce basic wireframes for new and revamped pages โ these would showcase the pageโs layout, functionality and placement within ย wipo.int, including suggestions for optimized URLS, breadcrumbs, links and tags;
(c) Create (or greatly edit expert-prepared) web content that is optimized (SEO), accessible and in alignment with WIPOโs tone of voice (TOV), universal look and feel (ULF) and UX best practices;
(d) Liaise with subject matter-experts in WIPO to inform and later review the strategy/information architecture and content prepared, ย Conduct interviews with representatives of companies to be featured in stories;
(e) Upload content (text, images, videos, documents) to our CMS (Liferay) or other platforms (eg. Shorthand) including the creation of meta data and assignment of appropriate tags;
(f) Edit, tag and implement visual assets for web usage in a variety of formats (image, animation, illustration, video, audio, infographic, etc.) and/or source, retouch, and acquire usage rights for paid assets.ย
3. Reportingย
The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Head of the Web Communications Section, Information and Digital Outreach Division. ย The supervisor will evaluate the incumbentโs delivery of work.
4. Profileย
Educationย
University degree and/or recent certifications in communications, business, digital marketing, writing, web design or other relevant disciplineย
Experienceย
Essential:ย
โข At least 6 years of experience in digital communications, preferably in relation to ย intellectual propertyย
โข Experience working in/for an international Organization with a global user base
Skillsย
Essential:ย
โข Excellent ability to write modern, user-focused content in English;ย
โข Strong interviewing skills and ability to engage in productive dialogue with representatives of private sector and WIPO subject matter experts from different cultures;
โข Ability to create and edit visual content (Photoshop, Canva, Illustrator etc.); ย
โข Good understanding of best practices in UX, content design, SEO, information architecture, and web design;ย
โข Proven experience in structuring web content (content audits, content flow templates, information architectures, taxonomies)
โข Ability to structure information and create user-focused designs for web pages (including use of wireframing/prototyping tools such as e.g. Balsamiq, Sketch, Figma);
โข Strong understanding of intellectual property and its value for business;
โข Strong organizational, time management, collaboration and communication skills;
โข An eye for detail and a high level of accuracy;
โข Diplomatic, creative, and patient approach to collaboration.

5. Duration of contract and payment
Varies depending on assignment. Applicants are requested to provide an indication of their remuneration expectations in Swiss francs (either daily or hourly rate).
