โUnder the direct supervision of the Programme Officer, in coordination with the National Project Manager, the โProject Assistant โ Protectionโ is responsible for undertaking the following duties and responsibilities:โย
- โโAssist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities. ย
- โRetrieve, compile, summarize, and present information/data on specific project topics.
- โMonitor budget; verify availability of funds; obtain necessary approval and update budget related information. ย ย
- โSupport administrative coordination of project implementation, involving liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process and follow-up on administrative actions, etc.
- โDraft status reports, identifying shortfalls in delivery and bringing them to the attention of the supervisor. ย
- โDraft correspondence, reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentations and other forms of documentation. ย
- โOrganize meetings, workshops and training sessions. ย
- โRespond to general information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records.
- โPerform other related duties as assigned.โย Education
- โโSchool diploma with four years of relevant experience; or
- โBachelorโs degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experienceโย Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. ย Experience
- โโExperience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations;
- โExperience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
- โDemonstrated experience supporting activities related to human trafficking, migrant smuggling, child protection, gender-based violence (GBV), and community-based protection.
- โExperience in organizing and facilitating community outreach and capacity building workshops on protection topics such as human trafficking, GBV, child protection, and access to services.Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage. ย Skills
- โโAAP (Accountability to Affected Populations): receive and record complaints/suggestions and ensure timely closure within SLA using standard templates.
- โPSEAH: confidentially identify and channel reports following established protocols (does not conduct investigations).
- โData Protection: ensure informed consent, secure storage of participant lists and evidence.
- โBasic ESMS: apply social screening to activities and minimum mitigation measures; escalate medium/high risks.
- โIMS/CRM: timely input of attendance records, participant profiles, and referrals; update after each activity.
- โSimple Tools: conduct pre/post perception and satisfaction surveys; briefly systematize lessons learned.
- โExcel/Sheets (Intermediate): use validations, simple tables, and prepare biweekly/monthly reports.
- โProficiency in Kobo/ODK/Forms, institutional IMS, and collaborative tools (SharePoint/Teams/Drive).
- โFunctional understanding of local protection networks, referral mechanisms, and municipal protocols for public/community events.โย Languages
- For this position, fluency in โSpanishโ is required (oral and written).ย
- โโOral and written fluency of beneficiaryโs languages (English) is an advantage.ย IOMโs official languages are English, French and Spanish.
