Work LocationHome based Expected durationSix (6) months Duties and ResponsibilitiesBackground The main mandate of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) is to promote sustainable development of human settlements and policies conducive to adequate housing for all. Within this framework, UN-Habitat supports central and state governments, as well as local authorities and other partners for the implementation of the Habitat Agenda, the 2030 Agenda with the Sustainable Development Goals and the New Urban Agenda. UN-Habitat helps the urban poor by transforming cities into safer, more inclusive, compact, integrated, resilient and connected places with better opportunities where everyone can live with dignity. It works with organizations at every level, including all spheres of government, civil society, and the private sector to help build, manage, plan and finance sustainable urban development. The Regional Office for Latin American and the Caribbean โ€“ ROLAC โ€“ is based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Agency puts emphasis in developing and managing activities in the host country. Indeed, for the past years, UN-Habitat has expanded its portfolio in Brazil by working with the three tiers of government to support the formulation and implementation of more effective, sustainable, participative, and socially fairer urban economic, social, and environmental policies. Each year, UN-Habitat celebrates Urban October, which begins with World Habitat Day and ends with the World Day of Cities. To promote the debate on the themes of each year's Urban October throughout Brazil, the UN-Habitat office in Brazil created, in 2018, the Urban Circuit: an initiative to provide institutional support and visibility to events organized by various actors. In 2025, the 7th edition of the Urban Circuit will be held in hybrid format, with live online, in-person and recorded events. To properly implement the 2025 Urban Circuit, a Videomaker is required to ensure a good execution of the communications. Report to UN-Habitat Manager The Videomaker reports to the Head of Brazil Office, who will evaluate him/her. Responsibilities The Videomaker will support the implementation of the project, and its activities, with the following responsibilities: a) Video production, editing and subtitling. b) Vectorization of images, formatting photos in Photoshop for web stories, speeches and other webpages. c) Maintain a shared and organized archive of all the multimedia produced. d) All Software licenses for editing images must be the property of the Videomaker, as well as it is their (his/her) responsibility to bring all audiovisual equipment, if needed, to perform the described activities (cameras, lenses, flashes, microphones, batteries, tripods, connectors, and cables) - excluding UN-Habitat of any liability for damage or cost related to it. e) The Videomaker will obtain the relevant written consent for video usage from concerned people/authorities. Video and photographs subject release forms signed by parents or legal guardians of children under the age of 18 will be delivered to UN-Habitat Office together with the images. f) Be responsible for travel needed for the project development, when possible. The consultant will be responsible for completing all courses and training activities that are indicated to him/her by his/her supervisor. The security course BSAFE, from UNDSS, is required to be accredited during the first month of employment. The consultant will be responsible for his/her own security, so the person should get familiarized with United Nations security mechanisms and comply with them according to the Framework of Accountability for the United Nations Security Management System. Outputs/Work Assignment The Videomaker shall assist the implementation of the project, according to the stated responsibilities and the delivery of the following products: Product 1: Launch of the campaign โ€ข One (1) vertical Reels video. โ€ข Quality 4K. โ€ข Script to be provided and approved by the Communication team. Expected delivery date: by 30 June 2025 Product 2: Thematic activation videos โ€ข Five (5) vertical Reels videos. โ€ข Quality 4K. โ€ข Scripts to be provided by the Communication team. Expected delivery date: by 31 August 2025 Product 3: Launch Package for Urban Circuit events โ€ข One (1) video in Reels format + horizontal version (for opening sting). โ€ข Opening and closing stings for online events. โ€ข Animated โ€œwaitingโ€ screens to introduce events. โ€ข Quality 4K. โ€ข Scripts to be provided by the Communication team. Expected delivery date: by 31 October 2025 Product 4: Closing video โ€ข One (1) vertical Reels video and one (1) horizontal cut. โ€ข Quality 4K. โ€ข Script to be provided by the Communication team. Expected delivery date: by 15 November 2025 Qualifications/special skillsEducation Required: โ€ข Bachelor's degree in communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, Film Studies or related fields. Work experience: โ€ข A minimum of three (3) years of experience in video editing, production and photography is required, with portfolio provided upon request. โ€ข Experience with non-profit organizations is desirable. โ€ข Familiarity with and interest in urban and social issues and global development agenda of the Organization is desirable. โ€ข Previous experience working in the Brazilian context is desirable. Skills: โ€ข Proficiency in the use of software such as Adobe Premiere or equivalent and Adobe Photoshop is required. โ€ข Good computer skills in Windows, as Microsoft Office, Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and Web search engines is required. โ€ข Good understanding of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc.) and its different dynamics and characteristics for adequate application of graphic design products is required. โ€ข Experience related to the UN and/or any other international agency is desirable. Competencies โ€ข Professionalism: Experience working in an inter-institutional environment, project management, monitoring-evaluation; approaches and strategies regarding good urban governance and local and regional development. โ€ข Planning and organization: Professional approach to work, strong sense of responsibility, operate with minimal supervision; proven organizational skills and ability to manage a workload efficiently and within set deadlines. โ€ข Communication: Ability to write clearly and effectively; listen to others, interpret messages correctly and respond appropriately; show openness in information sharing and keep everyone informed; solid abstract reasoning skills together with a proven capacity to write documents for diverse audiences. โ€ข Teamwork: Ability to work with teams, demonstrate leadership, conflict management and consensus facilitation skills; ability to work in a multicultural and multi-ethnic environment, and to respect diversity; sensitivity to the main streaming of vulnerability; willingness and ability to work in difficult environments. Knowledge Management โ€ข The person must know the processes, procedures, and norms of UN-Habitat, to guarantee an adequate quality of the activities described above, following the standards of the organization. โ€ข The person will propose formats and procedures that allow the efficient implementation of the activities related to the project development. โ€ข The person must know the file of the Office, work with it, and ensure its proper maintenance, accessibility for all staff, and due updating. โ€ข The person will prepare databases related to the project running. โ€ข The person will make sure that all relevant technical information will be adequately shared with the correspondent staff. โ€ข The person will ensure that all produced material will be fit-for-purpose and delivered, in an organized way, for posterior consultation and use of the Agency. โ€ข The person will only share the information produced with the team agency, assuring the privacy of the content. Languagesโ€ข English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat, and Spanish is the working language of the Regional Office. โ€ข For the post advertised, fluency in Portuguese is required. โ€ข Good command in oral and written Spanish and English is desirable.
