Mission and objectivesEstablished in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants. With millions of labour migrants moving across the region every year, IOM teams in Central Asia have substantial experience in working closely with migrants and governments to ensure safe migration – especially for the most vulnerable through anti-trafficking, protection, resettlement, and migration health programmes.
ContextWithin this task, the Labour Mobility Division (LMD) Unit of IOM Kazakhstan aims to utilize translated migration-related materials as part of project implementation. The selected Online Volunteers will have the opportunity to connect with LMD members at IOM Kazakhstan and gain knowledge about the organization's migration-related activities. Note: Online Volunteers share their time and expertise on a voluntary basis and do not receive any financial compensation. Contributing to sustainable human development, developing knowledge and skills, expanding networks and working in a multicultural environment are some of the many benefits of online volunteering. Upon successful completion of the assignment, Online Volunteers will receive an electronic certificate of appreciation.
Task DescriptionIOM Kazakhstan LMD unit is seeking several Online Volunteers to support with translation of the document on migration from English to Russian. To this end the Online Volunteers are asked: - Each volunteer is asked to translate 20-page document into Russian - Ensure the translation is concise, in line with our communications guidelines, and fits the audience The selected Online Volunteers will be provided with the document in the original language and will receive guidance on the target audience and our communications guidelines as well as other guidance as needed.
