Mission and objectivesThe United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the UN's global development network with a clear and powerful mission: to eradicate poverty, reduce inequality, and build sustainable, resilient, and inclusive societies. The timbuktoo Initiative, a Flagship Initiative within the United Nations Development Programmeโs Regional Bureau for Africa (RBA) and part of the Sevilla Platform for Action, aims to revolutionize Africaโs startup and entrepreneurship space by supporting 10,000+ startups over the next decade through capacitation, incubation, and acceleration opportunities provided by our network of University Innovation Pods (UniPods) and our system of pan-African thematic Tech Hubs. One essential responsibility of the Initiative is monitoring the progress of our portfolio of supported startups who have been incubated or accelerated by the Initiative, in order to offer continuous services and lines of assistance to current cohort members and cohort alumni.
ContextIn this volunteer position, you will assist in the tracking and monitoring of startups across multiple thematic hubs and innovation programs. Your role will include organizing data on startup performance, stage, traction, and sector focus, and helping develop dashboards and reports for the supported startups. You will also support engagement with startups by the partnership team, help prepare materials for check-ins and ensure timely documentation of startup progress.
Task Description The task will include the following responsibilities: - Develop and organize prep and briefing materials to facilitate regular startup check-ins by the partnership team -Report on a regular basis to the partnerships team on status and progress of monitored startups -Organize data and maintain databases of startups supported by the timbuktoo Initiative The average estimated workload is expected to include a weekly review with the Partnerships team on summaries, synopses and reviews of information provided to the volunteer for inclusion in the newsletter, and a monthly deliverable of the newsletter itself, as well as regular correspondence on prep material, scheduling and startup statuses with the partnership team. The Online Volunteer will have the opportunity to build connections with the timbuktoo Initiative Partnership team at the Regional Bureau for Africa, and learn about Africaโs development finance, startup and entrepreneurship ecosystems.
