Coding and analysis of qualitative data on the driver of food choice in Benin

Background

The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) implemented a qualitative study to understand the drivers of food choice among women, men, and adolescents in Benin, with a particular focus on fruit and vegetables. The study was conducted in December 2022. Data were collected in four areas using in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and โ€œshopalongsโ€.

Activities

The collaborator will conduct transcript coding and thematic analysis of the qualitative data. Specifically, the collaborator will:

Code transcripts using qualitative software and develop the codebook.

Conduct content and thematic analysis and narrative review of codes.

Draft a slide deck with results from the thematic analysis.

Location

All work will be done remotely.

Level of effort

The level of effort for this activity is 25 days.

Required qualifications

Masterโ€™s degree in social science, nutrition, public health, international development, public policy, economics, or other closely related field

Demonstrated experience with coding in Nvivo

Demonstrated written and spoken proficiency in French

Demonstrated ability to multi-task, consistently meet deadlines and manage time well

Demonstrated professional level of attention to detail and accuracy of work
