Thai Language Teacher (part time)

Result of Service1. Course participants demonstrate improved confidence and competence in using Thai for basic conversations. 2. Learners are able to introduce themselves, engage in small talk, make polite requests, understand basic numbers, and tell time in Thai. 3. Students provide positive feedback on the usefulness and clarity of the course through end-of-term evaluations. 4. The teacher supports the development and implementation of practical, conversation-focused Thai language instruction in line with the organization’s training standards. Work LocationBangkok, Thailand Expected duration4.5 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesBACKGROUND: To foster communication and cultural integration among international colleagues, this Thai conversation course is designed to build essential speaking and listening skills for everyday interactions. The selected teacher will deliver engaging and practical language instruction in line with the defined curriculum, through a virtual classroom format, on a part-time basis. RESPONSIBILITIES: The main duties and responsibilities include: • . Designing and delivering a curriculum that covers the following modules: - Self-introduction and basic informative question words. - Small talk and basic yes-no question words. - Polite requests and restaurant vocabulary. - Thai numbers and counting system. - Time expressions and telling time. • . Leading scheduled in-class sessions and supervising activities using a variety of instructional methods serving to enhance students' ability to learn, and creating an energetic, engaged environment; making necessary adjustments based on students' understanding and response. • Conducting distance learning sessions by using a defined online meeting platform. • . Reinforcing learning by giving assignments and activities to students to be completed outside of the classroom. • . Facilitating and engaging actively in class discussions, ensuring that all students are participating and interacting with one another. Using opportunities to shape discussion, and answering specific questions raised by students. • . Providing short end-of-term feedback on course delivery and student progress. The Individual Contractor will report to the Learning and Development Unit, Human Resources Management section, ESCAP under the supervision of Ms. Sivipa KUNAWAT, Associate Human Resources Officer. Qualifications/special skillsFirst-level university degree in language teaching, Thai language, linguistics, education, or related field. Equivalent teaching experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree. At least three years of experience teaching Thai to non-native adult learners, preferably in multicultural settings. Experience designing practical language courses and familiarity with online teaching tools is desirable. LanguagesNative speaker of Thai or certified Thai language teacher.
