Mission and objectivesThe United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the UN's global development network with a clear and powerful mission: to eradicate poverty, reduce inequality, and build sustainable, resilient, and inclusive societies. The timbuktoo Initiative, a Flagship Initiative within the United Nations Development Programmeโs Regional Bureau for Africa (RBA) and part of the Sevilla Platform for Action, aims to revolutionize Africaโs startup and entrepreneurship space by supporting 10,000+ startups over the next decade through capacitation, incubation, and acceleration opportunities provided by our network of University Innovation Pods (UniPods) and our system of pan-African thematic Tech Hubs. One essential component of the timbuktoo Initiative is the Partnerships unit, which works with RBAโs Partnership and Communications Team (PACT) to manage and expand our network of supporters and champions around the world.
ContextYou will work closely with the partnerships and ecosystem team to track evolving trends and emerging actors in global and African innovation ecosystems. Strong analytical and writing skills are essential, along with the ability to synthesize information into actionable insights. A background in international development, business, or public policy is preferred.
Task DescriptionWe are looking for an online volunteer who has experience in research, is self-motivated, and possesses excellent writing skills. The task will include the following responsibilities: - Identify and gather prospective partners -Build and contribute to partnership databases - Conduct research on potential partners as informed by the Partnerships team - Develop reports on partners and potential partners - Create a shared form with the findings, highlighting important findings The average estimated workload is expected to include a weekly report on partnership opportunities and regular updates to the partnership databases. The Online Volunteer/s will have the opportunity to build connections with the timbuktoo Initiative Partnership team at the Regional Bureau for Africa, and learn about Africaโs development finance, startup and entrepreneurship ecosystems, and how partnership processes function at UNDP.
