Mission and objectivesThe United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme contributes to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide. We work with partners to integrate qualified, highly motivated and well supported UN Volunteers into development programming and promote the value and global recognition of volunteerism. UNV is administered by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and reports to the UNDP/UNFPA/UNOPS Executive Board.
Contexthe Online Volunteers will play a vital role in enhancing UNV Caribbeanโs digital presence and promoting volunteerism through impactful storytelling and strategic content creation. With support of the communications team, the Online Volunteers will be responsible for creating engaging, informative and impactful written social media content that aligns with UNVs branding, messaging strategies and communication objectives. Through their writing, the Online Volunteers will shape compelling narratives that promote the spirit of volunteerism, amplify the voices of UN Volunteers and drive meaningful conversations around Sustainable Development Goals.
Task DescriptionBuilding on existing content (interviews with and photos from UN Volunteers in the Caribbean), online volunteers will be responsible for: - Converting content into a series of strategic social media posts based on the latest trends (in X, Instagram and Facebook). - Creating a draft schedule for advocacy that aligns with different international days related to UN days and the activities of UNV in the Caribbean. - Assist in reviewing and editing content for accuracy, grammar, style and consistency with the UNV messaging style. - Develop powerful narratives that amplify the voices of volunteers, promote UN values and inspire audience engagement. - Tailor messaging for different platforms and audiences while maintaining a consistent brand voice in cooperation with UN Communications officials. - Be Creative : ) and develop innovative communications products including videos or graphics. The Online Volunteers will have a weekly meeting with UNV Coordinating Team for the Caribbean region to exchange ideas, share lessons learned and provide feedback and recommendations. This is great experience for anyone interested in learning more about the great work of our UN Volunteers on the ground in the countries of the Caribbean sub-region.
