Setting and ReportingThe United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF) was established in 1949 by the United Nations General Assembly to provide retirement, death, disability, and related benefits for staff of the United Nations and other member organizations of the Fund. This position is located in the Cashier's Unit within the Financial Services of the Pension Administration of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (โ€œUNJSPFโ€ or โ€œthe Fundโ€) - Pension Administration. The Cashier's Unit is responsible for directing and controlling the treasury activities of the Fund as well as managing the cash flow operations of the Secretariat, including the purchase and sale of currencies and the funding of bank accounts prior to payment schedules. The Unit also recommends and coordinates the implementation of periodic and non-recurrent payment systems for worldwide application, including the selection of banks, value dates, manual and electronic payment system. In addition, the Unit is responsible for establishing methods to interface the electronic payment systems into the existing infrastructure of the Pension Fund. The Senior Treasury Assistant reports to the Treasurer and the position is located in New York. Responsibilitiesโ€ข Validates and approves bank files containing periodic and non-periodic payments, ensuring compliance with relevant rules and control procedures. โ€ข Provides operational perspective and makes recommendations to Chief of Unit/Section to incorporate bestpractices. โ€ข Prepares monthly and weekly cash forecasts and analyses cash flow patterns pertaining to contributions,disbursements and fund transfer. โ€ข Reviews completeness of monthly payroll checks to various pouch destinations, investigates erroneous/invalid entries and takes appropriate corrective action. โ€ข Analyses complex cases of beneficiariesโ€™ claims of non-receipt of payments, delays in payments and bankcharges. โ€ข Advises concerned units of changes in bank correspondent relationships resulting from mergers, acquisitions, or other circumstances. โ€ข Assists Pension and Entitlement Section in payment instructions formatting with regard to banking details. โ€ข Drafts/prepares memoranda and responds to queries by banks, concerned units and beneficiaries. โ€ข Provides guidance and training to Treasury Assistants in areas of non-receipt investigations, compliance matters, recall of funds, unapplied payments, provisional credits and notification of changes in payment routing. โ€ข Supervises other general service staff when required. โ€ข Assists with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports forinformation sharing, knowledge management, planning and decision making. โ€ข Assists in implementation of new applications by providing working knowledge of processes, procedures, supporting systems and tools. โ€ข Carries out the responsibilities of the Cashier/ Deputy Cashier in their absence. โ€ข Performs other duties as may be required. Proficiency in using bank directory data to formulate payment routines, such as TGBR, is required. Proficiency in reading and creating SWIFT messages; SCB Straight2Bank, JPM Chase Access payment systems and JPM Chase e_Serve services is desirable. 1 year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
