The partnership between GGGI and the Government of Mexico has produced several key results to date. In the coming years, GGGI will continue to catalyze resource mobilization to bridge the significant climate finance gap and promote technical advisory in sustainable landscapes (covering agriculture, sustainable forests, coastal resilience and blue economy), sustainable finance (related to green and climate investments), climate action (such as NDC planning and implementation, inclusive green growth plans, MRV system design) and green infrastructure solutions (such as sustainable mobility, circular economy, sustainable energy, green industries).
The position will contribute to the development of technical input and analysis for the development, delivery, and assessment of work related to the implementation and monitoring of the Sustainable Landscapes thematic area in close collaboration with the Sustainable Finance team, as well as relevant national and subnational counterparts to build cooperative relationships and establish the organization as an effective partner. The position will support the generation of advice/analysis of technical products and project components, identifying opportunities and areas for improvement whilst generating knowledge sharing opportunities to enhance GGGIยดs programmatic capacity.
POSITION SUMMARY
Based in Mexico City, the Senior Sustainable Production Associate will report to the Sustainable Landscapes Coordinator. The position will be responsible for delivering technical inputs that trigger sustainable agrifood transformation, such as feed the design of financial instruments aimed at enabling the transition towards sustainable production mechanisms in Mexico. He/she will be responsible for supporting the implementation of various projects working closely with federal government agencies, subnational governments, development banks, the private sector and international organizations. The position will also collaborate in capacity building activities and carry out technical analyses for the development of deforestation-free production and traceability mechanisms, promote nature positive production, low-methane livestock production, agriculture certifications, technologies for sustainable agriculture, green business entrepreneurship targeting agri-business, among others.
PURPOSE
The Senior Sustainable Production Associate is responsible for feeding technical inputs on sustainable production throughout various projects of the Mexico program, from proposal development to delivery, including implementation, capacity building and development of new policies or other strategic planning documents.
Undertake data collection and carry out technical analyses for the development of deforestation-free production and traceability mechanisms, green business models, and green business entrepreneurship platforms targeting agri-business and environmental value-chain stakeholders, among others.
Support the assessment and development of sustainable production opportunities within targeted sectors and various national and subnational counterparts, private sector and/or NGOs.
Contribute to the development of funding and technical project proposals using a logical framework, under the guidance of the Sustainable Landscapes Lead.
ENGAGEMENT
Works closely with national and subnational counterparts to acquire information/knowledge and to build cooperative relationships and support GGGIโs recognition as an effective partner for policy delivery.
Contribute to the articulation and sustainment of GGGIยดs engagement with various federal (e.g. SEMARNAT, AGRICULTURA, CONABIO, CONAFOR, CONANP) and subnational government agencies, national development banks (e.g. FIRA and NAFIN), private sector and NGOs.
Coordinate closely with the Mexico Program team as needed to build and enable complementary capabilities, as well as, guarantee the achievement and delivery of high-quality products to government and private sector partners towards attaining the desired impact and goals.
DELIVERY
Contribute to the implementation of programs, projects, capacity building activities and development of technical analyses on deforestation-free production and traceability mechanisms, promotion of regenerative practices, integrated soil and crop management, low-methane livestock production, green business models, green business entrepreneurship targeting agri-business and greening value-chains, among others.
Provide guidance and technical inputs to feed policy formulation, the design and enhancement of financial instruments, green investment mobilization for sustainable landscapes, climate financing mobilization, project planning and implementation, among others.
Apply technical skills to prepare rigorous analyses and briefing notes, concept notes and analytical reports to support GGGI Mexicoโs engagement with diverse technical and general stakeholder audiences.
Participate in any other relevant activities deemed necessary for the development of GGGIโs Mexico program, including review of technical deliverables, monitoring and reporting of project activities to ensure effective and timely implementation of projectโs portfolio progress (monthly, semi-annual and annual).
REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS
Mexican nationals or holding a valid working visa.
A Bachelorโs degree in relevant fields such as agronomy, agroforestry engineering, biology, geography, environmental sciences, environmental management, or similar.
A Masterโs degree in relevant fields such as agroecology, land and water management, resilient farming, sustainable business, or similar.
At least 4-5 years of relevant experience in the promotion and implementation of integrated landscape management strategies, regenerative production and land use in Mexico.
Knowledge of public policies on sustainable production in Mexico.
Knowledge on sustainable agrifood production, barriers for smallholders and bottlenecks at the local level in Mexico.
Solid technical knowledge in at least three of the following: nature positive production, deforestation-free production and traceability mechanisms, regenerative practices, low-methane livestock production, technologies for sustainable agriculture, and agriculture certifications.
Knowledge in the use of logical frameworks and theory of change for project design and implementation.
Knowledge of FIRAโs financial instruments and project portfolio is desirable.
Experience in geographic information systems (GIS) is desirable.
Experience working in international organisms similar to the Global Green Growth Institute is desirable.
Flexibility to travel inside the country.
Excellent verbal and written fluency in English and Spanish.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The Senior Sustainable Production Associate is an X7 grade level in GGGIโs Mexico salary scale. The salary range for the position starts at USD 32,096 per annum, depending on qualifications, experience and internal equity.
GGGI provides 15% of base salary towards retirement plan/long-term savings, 27 days of annual leave, and private health insurance that covers dental.
