The Bank for International Settlements has an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Relationship Manager in our Asian office. This role is based in Hong Kong and relocation support is available to the successful candidate and their dependant family.
The BIS established its Representative Office for Asia and the Pacific (Asian Office) in Hong Kong SAR in July 1998. The BIS Asian Office aims to strengthen the BIS's role as a financial service provider to the region's central banks and contribute to high-level policy discussions through research contributions and targeted analytical work to support the evolving needs of central banks in Asia.
Purpose of the role:
In the role of Senior Relationship Manager, you will manage and develop the BIS's Banking business relationships with a portfolio of central bank customers in the Asia-Pacific region. The role entails dealing BIS Treasury products with customers, contributing to the development of a customer business, promoting BIS financial services (Treasury and Asset Management), consulting customers on their reserves management activities and preparing documentation for and briefings on customers.

Primary accountabilities:
- Prepare and design the marketing strategy central bank customers.
- Propose customer deposit targets, design guidelines for changes in the defined intermediation margin and contribute to the design and implementation of policies to achieve balance sheet targets.
- Contribute to the design of the BIS pricing policy and propose pricing policy changes to Management.
- Proactively consult customers on the placement of their funds with the BIS as well as promoting and selling BIS financial products. Discuss pricing with customers, deciding variations of the defined intermediation margin in relation to market circumstances and within agreed guidelines. Assist customers in all their transactions, including those relating to cash management and account movements.
- Provide input on how to enhance business development activities and marketing strategies vis-ร -vis individual customers, and globally.
- Prepare briefings on customer business for senior management; regularly update the Customer Relationship Management system; conduct quarterly reviews of business developments and carry out various ad hoc analytical and market studies, as requested.
- Assist in preparing required supporting documentation, in collaboration with Risk Management and the Legal Service, for special operations, e.g. standby facilities and credit lines.
- Research trends in reserves management in order to share such information with central bank customers
Qualifications, skills, and experience:
- University degree in economics, finance, business or the equivalent. An MBA and/or CFA would be an advantage.
- Experience in sales, asset/liability management and/or portfolio management gained in a major financial institution, central bank or international organisation.
- Good understanding of the investment objectives and constraints of central banks and international organisations.
- In-depth knowledge of the reserve management activities of central banks.
- Excellent and broad knowledge of a range of investment products in major financial markets.
- Dynamic and customer focussed with good interpersonal skills.
- Strong negotiation and mediating skills.
- Strong analytical skills, accuracy, perseverance and ability to cope with pressure.
- Excellent organisational skills with a flexible and responsible approach to task and working hours. Capable of working in a multinational/multicultural environment.
- Good personal initiative and judgment.
- Ability to collaborate well within a team.
- Excellent communication, presentation and drafting skills and in English (knowledge of other major languages an advantage).
