Position Overview: The Senior Manager, Business Operations & Strategy (Senior Manager) will work in close partnership with the PIH-US Executive Director (ED) to continually refine and execute team priorities. The individual is responsible for providing strategic thought partnership and administrative management support to the ED, leading internal communications, and other special projects. The Senior Manager must exhibit strong judgement, diplomacy, discretion, as well as superb organizational skills as this individual will represent the ED and PIH-US with a diverse range of people internally and externally. This role presents an opportunity to work with stakeholders within and outside of the organization in service of building a new program dedicated to advancing health justice in the United States.   • Implement systems and tools to enhance communication, collaboration, and knowledge sharing among team members, including efficient use of meeting time
  • Lead coordination of PIH-US all-team and leadership team meetings, including agenda development, meeting minutes, tracking action items and follow-up communication; support and coach PIH-US team in designing and leading effective meetings
  • Prepare communications on behalf of the ED and ensure that all materials, presentations, and correspondences of the ED reflect priorities, personal and organizational voice, and key messaging points
  • Maintain a deep understanding of organizational strategy and priorities and cultivate the ability to communicate them to staff, partners, and stakeholders
  • Lead preparation for key meetings and events โ€“ externally and internally โ€”including compiling key research, briefing notes, talking points
  • Steward relationships across Partners In Health with tact and diplomacy and use creative problem-solving techniques Special projects management and key partner stewardship (30%)
    • Lead programmatic and operational planning for annual PIH-US all-team and leadership team retreats, in close collaboration with ED and Director of Learning & Impact
    • Manage and support Operations Associate on administrative and operational dimensions of team meetings and retreats
    • Support the ED in maintaining strong relationships with key funders and stakeholders; support development of donor pitches and materials in collaboration with Director of Partnerships
    • Manage planning of select strategic initiatives and serve as contributor for tasks or deliverables under ED purview/scope of work
    • Manage select large or cross-functional, team-wide projects or initiatives; bring together important stakeholders and help drive decisions Strategic planning and alignment (25%)
      • Manage PIH-US annual strategic planning process, including leadership team goal and target setting; serve as thought and accountability partner with ED in continually tracking and refining executive strategic priorities
      • Manage and lead continual improvement of accountability tools for implementation of team-wide strategy; coordinate with Learning & Impact team on tracking and communicating progress internally and externally on key goals and metrics; this includes a quarterly review process with each team
      • Support ED and other senior leadership team members in engaging key partners and external advisers in development and review of PIH-US strategy
      • Liaise with OnePIH strategic planning team to ensure PIH-US representation and alignment in organizational-wide plans
      • Serve as a thought partner to the ED in continually improving daily functions and advancing organizational priorities Administrative management (15%)
        • Manage hiring process for roles reporting to the ED in partnership with the Director, Human Resources; support drafting and posting job descriptions, outlining interview processes, and screening candidates
        • Manage travel priorities and logistics for the ED, including accompaniment as needed for high-priority trips and meetings
        • Manage expense reports for the ED
        • Manage calendar/scheduling for ED Qualifications:
          • 5-8 years of relevant experience
          • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted relationships across and outside of the organization
          • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills
          • Proven ability to develop and maintain systems, such as operational structures and strategic accountability tracking; superior attention to detail

Pay and BenefitsThe expected starting salary range for new hires in this position is between $85,000-95,000/year and may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market for the position, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The position belongs to a class of roles that have a salary range between $80,000-95,000/year. Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plans then in effect, eligible employees may enroll in a 401(k) plan with employer match, as well as participate in organization-sponsored medical, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability insurance, and basic life insurance plans for the employee and the employeeโ€™s eligible dependents. Full time employees will receive 15 days of vacation, 12 sick days, 3 personal days, and 3 volunteer days in addition to paid time off during the week between Christmas and New Yearโ€™s Day, the week of July 4th, and 11 additional holidays annually.
