Beyond Fossil Fuels (BFF) is an alliance of civil society groups\ncommitted to transforming the European energy sector. We strive for a just\ntransition to a fossil-free, fully renewables-based power system that protects\nour climate and people. This campaign is supported by a BFF secretariat, with\nstaff spread across Europe.\n\n

This position will strive to shift countries\naway from coal and gas towards a renewable-based energy supply in the power\nsector, as part of the global strategy of Beyond Fossil Fuels. This position is\ncreated to support the BFF secretariat during the parental leave of our Senior\nInternational Campaigner.\n\n

      \nPosition: Senior International Campaigner\n\n

      \nPreferable start date: May 2025\n\n

      \nEmployment type: 80% FTE-time, 10 - 12 month\ncontract\n\n

      \nLocations we hire in: Consultancy contract in\nany EU member country, Western Balkans and Turkey.\n\n

Please note that we do not have the resources to relocate\ncandidates to Europe from outside the continent.\n\n

Your\nresponsibilities\n\n

As the senior international campaigner, you will be responsible\nfor:\n\n

      \nLeading on designing and executing BFF's\nglobal strategy, focused on diplomacy, political campaigning and advocacy\ninterventions between Europe and other countries and regions, to accelerate\ngovernment action on the fossil-to-renewables power sector transition;\n\n

      \nConvening strategy discussions and\ncoordinating insight sharing between civil society organisations (CSOs) working\non diplomacy, political campaign and advocacy interventions on the\nfossil-to-renewables power sector transition, as part of the Global Clean\nEnergy NGO network;\n\n

      \nTogether with CSOs from Europe and other\nregions, implement activities around global and regional climate / energy\ndiplomacy moments;\n\n

      \nResponding to queries on Europe, and\norganising experience and knowledge sharing opportunities with allies from\nother regions;\n\n

      \nContributing to BFF secretariat internal\nplanning, reporting, budget oversight and fundraising efforts;\n\n

      \nOversee the work of one direct report, and\nmanage other external consultants for specific projects as required.\n\n

Required\nskills & experience\n\n

      \nYou have at least six years of work\nexperience of working on energy/climate/environment issues in non-governmental\norganisations or in relevant government positions (such as foreign affairs,\nstrategic communications etc.);\n\n

      \nYou have at least five years of experience in\ndeveloping narrative-driven campaign strategies and running campaigns and\nadvocacy efforts, including to influence governments;\n\n

      \nYou have at least three years line management\nexperience;\n\n

      \nYou have a comprehensive understanding of the\nenergy transition, including its political and economic context in Europe, and\nhow this relates to other regions;\n\n

      \nYou possess strong interpersonal skills, are\ncompetent at facilitating and supporting the work of others, and have the\nability to build common cause and reach agreements among multi-organisational\nteams;\n\n

      \nYou possess excellent communication skills,\nincluding the ability to communicate clearly and concisely;\n\n

      \nYou are highly organised and capable of\nbalancing multiple priorities and projects;\n\n

      \nYou are confident working remotely with a\nbroad range of people from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds;\n\n

      \nYou are passionate about promoting a healthy,\nenvironmentally friendly, and fair society;\n\n

      \nYou are proficient in using google\nproductivity tools (docs, slides, calendar, etc.);\n\n

      \nYou have excellent spoken and written\nEnglish.\n\n

Desirable\nskills & experience\n\n

      \nKnowledge of international energy / climate\ndiplomacy and negotiations;\n\n

      \nA track record of successful political\ncampaigning and advocacy efforts in relation with governments;\n\n

      \nExperience with working in other\ncountries/regions outside Europe;\n\n

      \nExperience of working in environments with\nlimited space for civil society;\n\n

      \nYou speak other languages.\n\n
