1.ย ย ย ย Serve as the secondary liaison and focal point with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (MoFA) on IOMโs funding requirements for humanitarian and other assistance worldwide as well as monitoring and reporting on Japan-funded projects to further strengthen IOM-Japan partnership.
2.ย ย ย ย Provide support to the process to apply to the Japanese funding for IOM projects including supplementary budget, partnership grant aid and emergency grant in collaboration with IOM missions across the world, regional offices and relevant divisions in HQ.
3.ย ย ย ย Assist in facilitating quality and timely reporting, proper extension request and refund procedures on Japan-funded projects by regularly following up with IOM missions which received Japanese funding in coordination with regional offices and HQ, as needed.
4.ย ย ย ย Provide support to high-level missions such as DG and DDGโs visits to Japan, particularly in relation to MoFA-related meetings; and Japan related high-level meetings in Geneva and other places. Assist in preparing for talking points and background materials.
5.ย ย ย ย In coordination with the COM and the direct supervisor, explore the possibility of establishing a parliamentary league for IOM and engagement with parliamentarians and parliamentary committees on key policy advocacy issues relevant to IOM, and assist in organizing meetings. ย
6.ย ย ย ย Develop a network of stakeholders to expand partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders including NGOs, universities, research institutions and migrant-led organizations, and explore possible collaborations.
7.ย ย ย ย Keep abreast of migration-related trends globally, regionally and nationally, and analyze how IOM Japan can expand and deepen stakeholder engagement in the changing context. Propose ideas to strengthen partnerships with existing and new key stakeholders.
8.ย ย ย ย Collaborate with the senior PI & communications assistant to enhance branding and visibility of IOMโs work for specific communications initiatives, and provide necessary support, as needed.
9.ย ย ย ย Perform any other duties as may be assigned.
Education
- Bachelorโs degree or higher in International Relations, Public Administration, or other related social science field from an accredited academic institution, with five years of relevant working experience; or,
- High school diploma with atย least seven years of relevant experience.ย

- Experience ย of workingย in the field of international cooperation (NGOs, international organizations,ย government institutions,ย etc.).
- Experience in partnership development and relationship management in the government or international organizations is an asset.ย
- Experience inย project management and donor liaison and reporting in the field of international cooperation is an advantage.
- Experience in working with Parliamentarians is an advantage.
- Understanding of social mediaย and website management,ย andย workย experienceย in public information and communicationย are an advantage. Skills
- Strongย understanding on issues related to ODA and international relations and IOMโs positioning.
- Knowledge ofย website management and social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and others.ย
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, Windows, Office, and Outlook, and desktop software applications.
- ย Excellent organization and analytical skills, attention to details, adaptability to changing situations and ability to work with minimum supervision. Languages
- Fluency in Japanese and English is required (oral and written). IOMโs official languages are English, French and Spanish.
