Purpose and Scope of the Positionย 

The Senior Driver will be based in Togo Country Office, will report to the Togo Country Manager, and she/he expected to provide administrative, logistical support to Country and Global Practice teams.ย 
The senior driver provides driving services to management, operations, and administrative staff in the Country Office, consultants, experts and staff on mission. The Senior Driver also provides messengerial services in the office.

Duties and Accountabilities

ย 
To perform according to expectations, the candidate would be expected to:

โ€ข Transport authorized personnel to/from airports, meetings, appointments, and other official duties, including business travel to/from locations throughout Togo.

โ€ข Operate the assigned office vehicle and prioritize the safety of staff and other road users.ย 

โ€ข Deliver and collect mail, documents, and other items, and fulfilling any additional transportation needs.

โ€ข Meet officials, mission staff at the airport and adhering to local protocols or destination-specific formalities.

โ€ข Conduct visual pre- and post-journey vehicle inspections for roadworthiness; maintain and upkeep office vehicle(s) in accordance with manufacture guidelines.ย 

โ€ข Perform day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle by checking oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc.ย 

โ€ข Regularly update the World Bank Senior Security Specialists and Administrative Officer on the vehicle inspections and maintenance checks.

โ€ข Ensure that the vehicle is always clean (interior and exterior, including safety belts) and assist or ensure that all passengers have fastened safety belts.

โ€ข Ensure that the vehicle is equipped with First Aid kit and that s/he is trained in providing first aid. Check expiry date for consumables in the kit and seek replacement as appropriate.

โ€ข Log official trips as per the World Bankโ€™s policies, including daily mileage, fuel consumption, oil changes etc.ย 

โ€ข Ensure that the documentation for office vehicles, such as the license disc, is always up to date, including the display of current insurance coverage.

โ€ข Observe the countryโ€™s traffic laws and regulations.

โ€ข Regularly review and follow security information and environmental conditions to ensure safe driving both within and outside the cities.

โ€ข Ensure the confidentiality of any discussions or phone conversations held by passengers.

โ€ข Report all road traffic crashes and near-crashes to the World Bank Senior Security Specialists and Administrative Officer.

Selection Criteria

โ€ข Must have a valid driverโ€™s license, a Professional Driving Permit (PrDP), and capable of defensive driving.

โ€ข Hold a high school diploma or equivalent certification, with a minimum of 5 yearsโ€™ professional driving experience with a safe driving record.

โ€ข Possess basic skills in minor vehicle repairs and maintenance.ย 

โ€ข Good English skills

โ€ข Good administrative skills, including ability to use GPS/online maps, and proficient in Microsoft Office to maintain reports and for communication purposes.

โ€ข Strong geographical knowledge of the region, including safe and alternative routes.

โ€ข Thorough knowledge of driving rules and regulations and conversant with the Road Security Code.

โ€ข Maintaining a professional appearance

โ€ข Must have a high level of discretion, commitment and reliability.

โ€ข Capacity to deal sensitively in multi-cultural environment and build effective working relations with clients and colleagues at all levels.ย 

โ€ข Willingness to work outside regular hours as required.

โ€ข Medical/Health checks will apply.
