The Bank for International Settlements, BIS is hiring two Senior DevOps Engineers in our Core Infrastructure and Cloud & Collaboration teams within our IT Infrastructure Group.

These roles are based in Basel, Switzerland however, thanks to our status as an international organization, we can hire globally and welcome applications from candidates of all nationalities and located anywhere in the world. Relocation support is available for the successful candidate and their dependent family members.

Purpose of the roles:

Our mission is to support central banks’ pursuit of monetary and financial stability through international partnership and to act as a bank for central banks.

You will contribute to this mission by supporting our technology modernization and innovation programme involving designing, implementing, and maintaining infrastructure in our hybrid cloud environment in support of our ongoing innovation strategy.

You will apply your knowledge in DevOps platforms and technologies to deliver projects addressing a wide variety of business issues. You will work in a variety of projects, ranging from small and tactical to Bank-wide strategic projects.

Core Infrastructure Engineering:

As a member of our Core Infrastructure team, you will contribute to our Innovation 2025 strategy by driving the deployment and management of a modern OpenShift platform. In this role, you will provide internal management, expert advice and operational experience on automation of IT infrastructure throughout the organization, including cloud and on-premises, this will include: platform orchestration, container design, agile project management, software engineering and application development. Additionally, you will contribute to the Bank’s overall hybrid cloud technology strategy.

Cloud & Collaboration:

In this role, you will support the team responsible for delivering the Bank’s core cloud platforms and services with a strong strategic focus on the Azure platform. You will collaborate closely with technical experts and business users across the Bank and contribute to the Bank’s overall technology strategy. Your areas of focus will be: delivering and maintaining PaaS and IaaS infrastructure, applying agile and DevOps practices, designing and implementing automation tools, systems and applications. Key skills for this role include developing IaC using Terraform, GitHub/DevOps, Azure Landing Zone Design and Deployment, Azure Monitoring and Security while following Microsoft CAF best practices in a hybrid cloud environment.

Qualifications, skills, and experience:

We have opportunities for Senior DevOps Engineers with expertise in either RedHat OpenShift or Azure IaaS and PaaS. For both roles, we require the following skills and experience:

• Knowledge of IT infrastructure technologies to support integration of Container services in a hybrid cloud environment.
• Demonstrated experience scripting in popular languages including Bash, Python and Perl
• Experience with DevOps practices, in particular automation and reusability as key enablers of project delivery and operations.
• Fluency with code management solutions, in particular GIT and CI/CD tools, including integrating their use in common infrastructure management and deployment tasks.
• Experience building integrations and applications against common REST base API’s, particularly infrastructure and core IT services like storage, cloud computing, virtualization, and networking.
• Excellent communication (in English), presentation and team-working skills. Able to present points clearly and convincingly.
• Ability to actively work supporting culture change initiatives.
