Within IFC Communications, the Internal Engagement team plays a critical role in ensuring employees are informed, engaged, and inspired. As part of the Corporate Communications function, the team plays a critical role in fostering connectivity and collaboration by delivering timely, relevant, and compelling internal communications about key corporate initiatives.ย ย The Senior Communications Officer for Internal Engagement will be at the forefront of shaping and delivering impactful communications that connect our people to our mission, strengthen engagement, and drive organizational priorities. The role will work with colleagues across IFC and the World Bank Group, providing strategic counsel and crafting compelling narratives that inspire action, foster collaboration, and support transformative change.ย ย

Scope of Work
The IFC Senior Communications Officer for Internal Engagement will work seamlessly with communications colleagues across the World Bank Group to design and deliver high-impact internal communications strategies that inform, inspire, and engage staff, while driving alignment with WBG priorities.ย
Key responsibilities:ย โข ย Lead the design, planning, and end-to-end management of high-impact internal communications campaigns, from concept to execution and post-campaign evaluation. Ensure campaigns are strategically timed, audience-focused, and coordinated across channels to maximize engagement and reinforce key messages.ย โข ย Develop and execute comprehensive communications strategiesโencompassing research and insights gathering, goal setting, audience segmentation, message development, multi-channel delivery, and impact measurementโto support organizational initiatives and change management.โข ย Oversee the creation and curation of high-quality, compelling content across channelsโincluding the IFC intranet homepage, IFC Updates newsletter, and other digital platformsโensuring consistency, clarity, and resonance with diverse audiences.โข ย Champion the use of innovative formats, storytelling techniques, and visual design to maximize engagement and understanding of complex initiatives.โข ย Direct the collection, analysis, and reporting of performance metrics related to internal communications activities, applying insights to optimize strategies and enhance reach and impact.โข ย Contribute as necessary to the planning and delivery of internal engagement initiatives and events, ensuring they reinforce key messages, foster organizational culture, and strengthen staff connection to IFCโs mission.โข ย Serve as a leader within the Internal Engagement team, acting as deputy to the Head of Internal Engagement, representing the team with leadership and in meetings and working groups as needed.โข ย Provide guidance and mentorship to communications colleagues, fostering a culture of excellence, creativity, and continuous improvement.
Selection Criteria
โข ย Masterโs degree in communications, journalism, political science, international development, or other related fields, with 8 or more years of experience in corporate communications.โข ย Demonstrated track record of leading successful, multi-channel internal communications campaigns from concept to delivery and evaluation, with measurable impact on engagement and organizational outcomes.โข ย Strong ability to translate complex concepts, strategies, and organizational change into clear, compelling, and accessible messages for diverse audiences.โข ย Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with a portfolio that demonstrates versatility across formats and channels.โข ย Demonstrated experience advising and collaborating closely with senior leaders, effectively managing sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.ย โข ย Proven ability to lead and take initiative, inspiring and guiding colleagues through mentorship and example.โข ย Proficiency in analyzing communications performance data and applying insights to refine strategies and improve outcomes.โข ย Creative mindset with a strong visual sense and familiarity with modern digital and multimedia communications tools.โข ย Experience working in an international, multicultural environment, with sensitivity to cultural nuances and organizational context.โข ย Ability to foster collaboration, mentor colleagues, and contribute to a high-performance team culture.
