Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) in Cyprus and direct supervision of the Senior Accounting Finance and Administrative Assistant and, in collaboration with relevant units at Headquarters and the Administrative Centres, the successful candidate will be responsible to support the following functions in Country-Office in Cyprus.
- Monitor and control access to IOM premises, ensuring staff, visitors, and contractors follow established entry/exit procedures.
- Conduct routine inspections of security equipment, doors, windows, and general office conditions, report deficiencies.
- Respond promptly to emergencies and suspicious activities, ensuring safety of personnel and assets.
- Assist in implementing emergency contingency plans and participate in evacuation drills.
- Maintain effective working relationships with UNDSS, host government agencies, and local security authorities to gather and share security-related information.
- Support the development and implementation of mission-specific security plans, SOPs, and contingency measures.
- Assist in monitoring staff compliance with safety protocols, including mandatory training and security clearances.
- Maintain and update the Country Office Warden system and ensure operability of communication systems (e.g., SCAAN).
- Maintain liaison/contact with and monitoring of security services service provider as applicable.
- Ensure all safety and security communications equipment is functional and inventory is up to date.
- Assist in preparing security incident reports, weekly updates, and other documentation as required.
- Maintain orderly filing systems for confidential security correspondence and contact databases.
- Conduct security briefings for newly assigned personnel and support delivery of security awareness sessions.
- Promote understanding of UNDSS security management systems and encourage completion of relevant training modules.
- Ensure office equipment (e.g., air conditioners, lights) is turned off after hours.
- Maintain visitor logs and issue passes as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned. Education
- University degree in Security, Social Sciences, International Studies, Communications or a related field from an accredited academic institution, with three years of relevant professional experience;
- Completed High School degree from an accredited academic institution, with five years of relevant professional experience.ย Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. ย Experience
- Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage; and,
- Experience in high security/emergency settings is an advantage Skills

- Ability to work effectively with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds, and;ย
