Responsibilitiesโ€ข In co-ordination with the Education Specialist (Guidance & Counseling) or (Mental Health) Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), as applicable, co-develops and implements a counseling and psychosocial programme to assist students in their personal- social, career and academic development in the school(s) s/he is assigned to (as per 4.7 ii below) in situations of (relative) normalcy and emergency situations. โ€ข In co-ordination with the Education Specialist (Guidance & Counseling) or (MH)PSS Coordinator, coordinates all aspects of the counseling and psychosocial activities in the school(s) to which s/he is assigned, including planning, implementing, evaluating and recommending annual plans for improvement. โ€ข Provides trainings and activities to build the capacity of teachers in the area of counselling and PSS including in times of emergency and supports teachers in identifying and addressing the needs of all children. โ€ข Coordinates the administrative aspects with the School Principal with regard to the implementation of the school plan and the referral issues. โ€ข Documents and reports all counseling and psychosocial support activities using appropriate forms / e-forms as developed and adopted by the Education Programme. โ€ข Provides awareness sessions, group and individual interventions to create a positive learning environment, enhance the studentsโ€™ wellbeing and achievement and develop positive studentsโ€™ behavior. โ€ข Collaborates with different UNRWA programmes: Protection, Health and Relief and Social Service (RSS), for internal referrals and provides advice to the School Principal on service providers outside UNRWA for external referrals; co-ordinates with the concerned other department staff, mainly Protection and Health to identify and address cases of child abuse and domestic violence. โ€ข Prepares monthly reports on the counselling and PSS activities in his/her designated school(s), with achievements, challenges and plans; prepares other ad-hoc reports as required. โ€ข Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor(s). Work Experienceโ€ข School Counsellor (Counselling and Psychosocial Support) - grade 10 : โ€ข You are required to have a minimum three yearsโ€™ experience in delivering psychosocial activities and individual support/counselling within PSS programming (including in INGOs, NGOs, or CBOs). โ€ข School Counsellor (Counselling and Psychosocial Support) - grade 11: โ€ข You are required to have completed five years of experience at grade 10 as a School Counselor (Counselling & Psychosocial Support) with a satisfactory performance. โ€ข Completion of the service on the job training programme provided by HQ, Education Department โ€œUNRWA Inclusive Education package: School Counselling and PSS approach, in accordance with the Framework for School Counselling for UNRWA studentsโ€. โ€ข You are required to have a university degree from an accredited education institution in mental health and counselling or educational counseling or in psychology. โ€ข Are you currently residing in Duty Station.
