Role Purpose
This position combines traditional risk management practices with innovative thinking to encourage the organization to embrace opportunities and challenges with confidence. The ideal candidate will be a creative problem solver with strong collaboration skills and a desire to advance risk management in a way that aligns and enables the organization mission.
Key responsibilities
Support the development and implementation of OSFs new risk management and preparedness frameworks.
Develop and deliver training on the risk management process and risk culture to instil a common understanding across the organisation emphasizing the value of calculated and thoughtful risk-taking.
Support the creation of dashboards, reports, and metrics to communicate risk exposure, management strategies, and the outcomes of intentional risk taking to leadership.
Assist in preparing materials for the Risk and Preparedness Committee, Board of Directors and other stakeholder meetings related to risk management.
Provide support to risk owners in articulating key risk indicators, effectively managing and monitoring associated risks, and ensuring the development and successful implementation of control frameworks.
Develop and maintain organizational risk registers and support Risk Owners to update / maintain their departmental risk registers.
Partner with the internal audit team.
Support the regular monitoring and maintenance of the OSF Risk Universe and Registers, including emerging risks.
Partner with Opportunity and Program teams to develop and implement mitigation strategies that align with their goals.
Serve as a resource to teams in navigating complex decisions involving risk and the organizations objectives.
The ideal candidate (essential criteria)
3–5 years of professional experience in risk management, compliance, operations, or a related field.
Proven experience of working in a risk management role in a complex, multi-geography organization
Evidence of supporting the design and implementation of risk management frameworks in large, complex, global organizations.
Experience in building and maintaining stakeholder relationships to drive partnerships.
Demonstrable experience in workshop and training design, delivery, and facilitation
Prior experience delivering risk management support in the nonprofit, philanthropic or comparable sectors is highly desirable.
Understanding of strategic decision-making and risk considerations in the context of nonprofits
Project management experience including demonstrated ability to plan for key governance milestones and necessary stakeholder engagement to meet these.
Experience in managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors.
