ContextThe United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme contributes to sustainable human development through volunteerism worldwide. Online volunteering allows organizations and volunteers to team up to address sustainable development challenges - from anywhere in the world and from any device. This digital volunteering enables anyone from anywhere to collaborate and dedicate their expertise with UN agencies, CSOs and public institution. With the emerging challenges faced by organizations in advancing the SDGs, digital volunteering serves as a complementing solution to address them. To ensure that UNV Online Volunteering solution remains relevant and able to take up the critical role, the UNV Regional Office in Asia and the Pacific (ROAP) intends to collaborate with Online Volunteers to dive deep on the trends of digital volunteering in Asia-Pacific and identify innovative solution where digital volunteering can play integral part. At the end of the assignment, the Online Volunteers will be rewarded with a certificate and will gain better understanding on the contribution of digital volunteering through various spectrum of the SDGs.
Task DescriptionWe are looking for 2 Online Volunteers with strong interest in volunteerism and digital volunteering, and expertise in desk-research and mapping activity. In close guidance from focal point from UNV Regional Office of Asia and the Pacific (ROAP), each Online Volunteers will be assigned with a number of countries and is expected to carry out the following tasks: - Desk-research on the needs and opportunities of digital volunteering in the assigned country especially for the following thematic areas: Child Protection,Cyber Crime, Geographical Limitation, People with Diabilities, Elderly, Sexual & Reproduction Health, Fundraising for Emergency Response. - Analyze the initial finding from the above task, and identify type of support/task under each category that can be provided digitally/virtually only – the analysis should also be based on existing example or good practices from similar organizations. - Provide brief analysis and recommendations (No more than 2 pages) on gathered information and analysis. A template will be provided to input the gathered data and information. An online induction will be arranged to brief selected Online Volunteers on the tasks. Further guidance on the above tasks and workflow will be provided during the assignment through calls via Zoom/Microsoft Teams and emails (or WhatsApp group), as needed.
