Mission and objectivesOur vision is a world where every woman is safe, healthy and lives free from female genital mutilation / cutting (FGM/C). Our purpose is to work with anti-FGM/C activists to promote, sustain and safeguard the physical and emotional well-being of women by the global eradication of FGM/C. Girls and women need the world to scale up and accelerate efforts, using identified effective practices to guide approaches. Everyone has an important role to play in ending FGM/C. Ending cutting requires a movement of organisations, activists, politicians, ambassadors and leaders at all levels.
ContextOrchid Project’s FGM/C Research Initiative is dedicated to commissioning and curating global research on female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C). We aim to close critical knowledge gaps by providing high-quality data and evidence on the practice's scale, distribution, and underlying drivers. By offering a comprehensive online platform, the FGM/C Research Initiative serves as a valuable resource for local, regional, and international actors working to end FGM/C. It facilitates access to the latest research, articles, and resources, thereby bridging the gap between academia and practitioners and accelerating efforts to abandon this harmful practice worldwide.
Task Description- Edit and proofread secondary and primary research articles, and reports focused on women's health, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and compliance with organizational guidelines. - Provide structural and substantive editing to enhance the flow, coherence, and impact of content. - Critically analyse research papers and reports to ensure the accuracy and integrity of arguments, methodologies, and conclusions. - Identify and address inconsistencies, gaps in logic, or potential misinterpretations in the data. - Collaborate with researchers to clarify and improve the presentation of complex ideas. - Ensure the use of culturally sensitive language and framing, particularly in discussions of FGM/C and other sensitive topics. - Report progress through emails and online meetings This consultant role is open to applicants regardless of their geographical location. The mission will start in February and will last two months
