The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) seeks to recruit seven Research Associate (III) โ€“ Project Focal Persons who support the coordination of ILRI-SNV RAYEE II project activities in poultry value chain development in the Seven Regions of Ethiopia (Amhara, Central Ethiopia, Oromia, Sidama, South Ethiopia, Southwest Ethiopia and Tigray).

The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) works to improve food and nutritional security and reduce poverty in developing countries through research for efficient, safe and sustainable use of livestock. It is the only one of 15 CGIAR research centers dedicated entirely to animal agriculture research for the developing world. Co-hosted by Kenya and Ethiopia, it has regional or country offices and projects in East, South and Southeast Asia as well as Central, East, Southern and West Africa. www.ilri.org.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide technical inputs and support in coordinating and managing ILRI-SNV RAYEE II project activities in the region under the guidance of and in collaboration with the ILRI Office in Addis Ababa and SNV. Assist in collaboration and networking with relevant local organizations, institutions, individuals, non-governmental organizations, and project partners and stakeholders on poultry value development activities in the region based on the guidance of the ILRI-SNV RAYEE II project coordinators. Assist in preparing and implementing clear annual work plans for the Regional ILRI-SNV RAYEE II poultry value chain development activities. Contribute and Support the development of training material for different value chain actors in local languages. Provide support poultry value chain capacity-building activities of the project in the region, including youth and women Provide support in monitoring the effective use of project resources for targeted poultry value chain development activities in the region. Provide support in monitoring and evaluating the ILRI-SNV RAYEE II-supported activities, inputs (physical and financial), and related activities, and collect data on project outputs and outcomes. Work closely with other RAYEE II project partners and stakeholders in the region, providing all necessary support. administer and coordinate project logistics related to fieldwork and other activities in the region as needed. Perform any other related duties as may be required.

Academic and professional qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Livestock Production, Agricultural Extension, Agricultural Economics, and Development Studies; Rural Development, Livestock health/Veterinary Medicine Relevant professional certification

Experience:

A minimum of five years of relevant experience in coordinating livestock development activities at the regional/national level Experience in organizing women and youth groups for development activities such as job creation Experience in working with multiple projects in the rural and agricultural sector more specifically in the poultry value chain.

Skills:

Ability to travel and work in remote rural areas and interest to support vulnerable groups in the community, including youth and women Good understanding of the poultry value chain in Ethiopia Proven ability to train and mentor youth and SMEs Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills Analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to innovate

Grade: HG 12

Minimum Base Salary: Birr 35,071 per month

Terms of appointment: This is a National Staff (NS) position, initial appointment is for three years with the possibility of renewal, contingent upon individual performance and the availability of funding. The ILRI remuneration package for nationally recruited staff in Ethiopia includes a very competitive salary and benefits such as life and medical insurance, offshore pension plan, etc. The ILRI campus is set in a secure, attractive campus in Addis Ababa. Dining and sports facilities are located on site .
