Mission and objectives UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. It provides strong and coherent leadership in support of Member States' priorities and efforts, building effective partnerships with civil society and other relevant actors.

ContextUN Women is the lead UN entity championing womenโ€™s rights and roles in peace and security, cooperating closely with an array of national and international actors. It backs the efforts of governments and civil society organizations in Europe and Central Asia to prevent and resolve conflicts by supporting National Action Plans on UNSC Resolution 1325, encouraging womenโ€™s participation in peace talks and helping to address the legacies of conflict-related sexual violence. It advocates for more attention to womenโ€™s specific needs and vulnerabilities across diverse policies and programmes. Knowledge generation and management is a key part of UN Women programmes โ€“ a number of knowledge and advocacy materials are planned to develop to support WPS programmatic work. It is planned to develop briefs/summaries to support knowledge exchange on particular thematic pillars of WPS agenda.
