Mission and objectivesIn the Asia-Pacific region, UNDPโ€™s work on Youth in Governance and Peacebuilding aims to enable young peopleโ€™s civic engagement and meaningful participation in decision-making, political processes and governance structures for peaceful, sustainable and inclusive societies. We aim to boost young peopleโ€™s interest, capacity, engagement and active participation in politics, peacebuilding, climate governance and democratic institutions that affect their daily lives, both now and in the future. Making sure that no one is left behind, our efforts include the active engagement of young women, those from low-income backgrounds, migrant and displaced youth, Indigenous youth, LGBTI+ youth, and young people with disabilities to shape a future of inclusive governance and foster a society where every voice is heard and valued.

ContextThe UNDP Youth in Governance team is interested in exploring youth representation and access to power related to climate governance across the Asia-Pacific region, for different roles and positions of youth as parliamentarians, state assembly-person, youth council members, youth advisors and consultative panels and bureaucrats/technocrats. We are seeking two Online Volunteers to support this qualitative data analysis research related to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions). This research will identify the patterns and information needed to understand youthโ€™s proximity to power and governance structure, evaluate their opportunities and challenges and how their overall participation in these power and governance structures open spaces for meaningful youth engagement in climate governance.

Task DescriptionWe are seeking two Online Volunteers to assist our Youth in Governance team with conducting a qualitative data analysis. The Online Volunteers will play a key role in supporting our efforts by: - Extracting relevant information from existing secondary data related to youth representation and access to power, policy, and governance structures in climate action across the Asia-Pacific Region. - Summarizing and organizing the extracted information from the secondary data. - Analyzing the data to identify key patterns and categorize findings - Develop a report, according to agreed reporting plan, including visualization and narrative interpretations of findings as required Online Volunteers will be provided with comprehensive datasets for the analysis and are expected to share progress updates during regular check-in calls. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to meaningful climate governance work in the Asia-Pacific Region.
