Work LocationUNIC Rio de Janeiro Expected duration2 to 6 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe incumbent is under the direct supervision of the Digital Communications Assistant and overall supervision of the Officer-in-Charge. Duties may include, but are not limited to: 1) Supporting digital strategy implementation: โ€ข Assist in the development of engaging digital assets for the UN Brazil (@onubrasil) social media accounts, including cards, videos and explainers. โ€ข Edit and produce short video content for social media and websites, including preparing and embedding subtitles in English and Portuguese. โ€ข Assist in development of digital campaigns covering UN priorities, such as climate change, human rights and information integrity, by drafting copies and helping organize schedules. โ€ข Assist in research on emerging opportunities to increase UN Brazilโ€™s digital presence and engagement on social media platforms. 2) Supporting events management and organization: โ€ข Assist in organizing events, press conferences, campaigns, and public outreach activities. โ€ข Support outreach efforts with partners and the UN System in Brazil. โ€ข Assist in mapping potential partners and sponsors in media and civil society. โ€ข Support in updating and expanding existing mailing lists. โ€ข Support relationships with suppliers. Qualifications/special skillsPlease note that to qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, applicants must meet one of the following requirements: a. Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);or, b. Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelorโ€™s level or equivalent). No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship. LanguagesEnglish and French are working languages of the UN Secretariat. For this position, fluency in oral and written Portuguese and intermediate level of English are required. Additional InformationThe internship position is located at the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Rio de Janeiro, within the Information Centres Service, Campaigns and Country Operations Division, Department of Global Communications (DGC). This is an exciting opportunity to support UNIC Rio in its mission to disseminate up-to-date information about the United Nations to Brazilian audiences and provide opportunities for participation, dialogue, and engagement with UNโ€™s work. UNIC Rio was established in 1947 as the first UN Information Centre in Latin America and the Caribbean. Special notice: Applicants must have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams, as well as design software such as Adobe Creative Cloud. Ability to draft news articles and/or social media posts in desirable.
