Organizational Setting

FAO Country Offices, working under overall corporate guidance and in line with the Strategic Framework, offer policy advice and support to countries in the mandated areas of FAO, facilitated through partnerships, resources and an active country programme to provide technical assistance, develop capacities and deliver core services while fully observing international standards of accountability to establish leadership and strengthen impact at the country level.ย 

The offices deliver on the programmatic priorities of each country as agreed in their respective Country Programming Frameworks (CPFs) aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) and ensure effective and efficient operations with adequate human and financial resources.ย 

Specifically, FAO Country Offices:ย 
โ€ข ย  ย advocate, inform and support policies and investments in the areas of FAOโ€™s mandate;
(ii) ย  ย provide technical assistance and deliver core services;ย 
(iii) ย  ย  assist and catalyse partnership and resource mobilization activities to support agrifood systems transformation;ย 
(iv) ย  ย position FAO as the specialized/authoritative technical agency in food and agriculture and agrifood systems transformation; andย 
(v) ย  ย ensure risk-smart and accountable operations and management. ย 

For more than four decades, FAO has been working with the Government of the Philippines, civil society, community-based organizations, the academe and the private sector to address challenges in the agriculture, fisheries and forestry sector. Joint efforts have included increasing sustainability in agricultural production, promoting value-adding practices, mechanization and modernization through improving post-harvest management, enhancing productivity and increasing the resilience of agriculture-based livelihoods to natural disasters, climatic hazards and armed conflict.ย

Reporting Lines

The Project Field Coordinator will directly report to the Project Team Leader.


Technical Focusย 

Broad range of support function in the field during the project implementation. This includes aiding to achieve project outputs through coordination work, field visits, monitoring and documentation of activities, and other field related duties.

Tasks and responsibilities

โ€ข ย  ย Supervise the timely implementation of the project: Development of Sustainable Fishery Value Chains in BARMM, at the provincial level
โ€ข ย  ย Provide strategic recommendations on how to enhance project implementation in priority areas
โ€ข ย  ย Provide technical guidance and support to relevant government partners (i.e. MAFAR Provincial counterparts, LGUs) and stakeholders (i.e. CBOs, Small/Medium Fishery/Aquaculture Business operators) in the implementation of the project
โ€ข ย  ย Strengthen partnerships and inter-agency efforts at provincial level including fostering collaboration as well as coordinated implementation on the ground
โ€ข ย  ย Coordinate and liaise with provincial and local government partners, and other relevant stakeholders for the conduct of project activities
โ€ข ย  ย Prepare and submit reports for activities undertaken
โ€ข ย  ย Work closely with the Project Team Leader and Specialists for the design of the project activities
โ€ข ย  ย Carry out other relevant duties within his/her technical competence as requested by the FAO Representative

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING


Minimum Requirements ย  ย 

โ€ข ย  ย University degree in the field of Fisheries, Aquaculture, or Aquatic Resources, Community Development/Organizing, Development Studies or other related fields.
โ€ข ย  ย At least five (5) years of relevant experience fisheries/rural development sectors, programme management and implementation, capacity building, and coordination with national/regional government structures, NGOs and private sector and the UN agencies.
โ€ข ย  ย Working knowledge (level C) of English
โ€ข ย  ย National of the Philippines.ย
