Place of Assignment: WIPO HQ, Geneva, Switzerland preferred / remote with max. 3 hours time zone difference may be possible

1. Backgroundย 

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), a specialized UN agency, is the global forum for intellectual property policy (IP), services, information, and cooperation.ย 
WIPO GREEN was launched in 2013 to promote the diffusion of green technology by facilitating connections between green technology โ€œseekersโ€ and โ€œproviders,โ€ i.e. those looking for green technology solutions, and those developing and/or providing them. At the heart of WIPO GREEN is its online marketplace, which hosts a wide range of green technologies from a worldwide pool of private and public sector contributors. It now has more than 130.000 entries. You will be part of a small but highly active, multidisciplinary, dynamic and spirited Climate Change and Food Security team.
WIPO GREENโ€™s Acceleration Projects are unique on-the-ground green technology matchmaking projects. They focus on a particular geographical area and technological domain and identify specific needs of individual farmers, companies, communities etc. The projects then identify feasible technology solutions and assist in the technology transfer. Currently, WIPO GREEN runs acceleration projects in 10 countries which are implemented through local consultant companies and in close cooperation with local partners, often national IP offices.

2. Objective of the assignment

The incumbent supports the senior staff with the day-to-day implementation of several acceleration projects.ย 

3. Tasks

In cooperation with other WIPO GREEN staff, the main responsibility will be to manage acceleration projects in developing countries with several new starting up. Duties include:

โ€ข Liaison with partners and beneficiaries;
โ€ข Consultant contract management;
โ€ข Day-to-day communication with consultants;
โ€ข Lead regular update meetings with consultants;
โ€ข Review and monitoring of consultant deliverables;
โ€ข Monitor project implementation, schedules and outputs;
โ€ข Review, monitor and edit project related uploads to the database;
โ€ข Review deliverables;
โ€ข Produce project information material for various purposes;
โ€ข Collect and monitor project Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) on a quarterly basis, as well undertake reporting to WIPO and project donor as required;
โ€ข Project financial management;
โ€ข Assist in conceptualizing the projects in the wider context of WIPO and WIPO GREEN;
โ€ข Assist in promoting the acceleration project and the work of the unit in events, webinars etc.;
โ€ข Other related tasks as required.

4. Deliverablesย 

โ€ข Bi-weekly meeting with project consultants and partners
โ€ข Contracts issued, managed and terminatedย 
โ€ข Consultant deliverables, including database uploads ย reviewed and quality ensured
โ€ข Projects schedules created, updated, and implemented
โ€ข Collect, review, and prepare impact stories, PowerPoint slides, and other promotional material
โ€ข Collect, review, and ensure quality of project metrics and supporting documentation and deliver in relevant format for WIPO and donors
โ€ข Review and verify consultants payment schedules inline with deliverables and process invoices
โ€ข Present the activities in various meetings, webinars, and other relevant forums

3. Reporting

The incumbent works under guidance of the acceleration project work area manager and reports to the Head of CCFSU.

4. Profile

โ€ข Advanced university degree in a relevant field such as technology oriented studies, climate change, environment, development, engineering etc.;
โ€ข At least 5 years of relevant work experience;
โ€ข Experience with project management in an international setting;ย 
โ€ข Experience from developing countries an advantage;
โ€ข Good knowledge of and personal interest in climate change, food security, and environmental issues in general;
โ€ข Good knowledge of and personal interest in green technology, innovation and technology transfer;
โ€ข Open-minded, active, adaptive, self-propelled, diligent;
โ€ข Excellent organizational and coordination skills to keep everything running smoothly
โ€ข Excellent English communication skills. Working level use of other UN languages an advantage;


5. Duration of contract and payment

March/April to end December 2025. Possibility for extension.

Applicants are requested to provide an indication of their remuneration expectations in Swiss francs (daily rate).
