Work LocationThe internship can be in-person or fully remote depending on applicant's location Expected duration3-6 months Desire start date 1 April 2026 Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis internship is located in the Project Management Office (PMO) of the United Nations Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT). OICT enables a better, safer, more sustainable future through innovative technology. The Office is responsible for defining strategic direction for ICT in the Secretariat. It provides oversight of ICT programmes, systems, applications and decision-making and is committed to ensuring colleagues all over the world have the necessary ICT tools to succeed in their respective mandates. The PMO aims to strengthen the successful delivery of ICT initiatives across the Organization by providing a centralized, one-stop shop for project management oversight, governance, standardization, methodologies, best practices, training, tools, and templates. The OICT PMO enables consistent and effective project implementation globally, promoting compliance, transparency, and best practices at all levels of the Organization. OFFICE DUTIES: The intern will support the OICT PMO team in monitoring project management compliance and providing support to the project management tool replacement project. Duties may include, but are not limited to: Project Management Compliance Support โ€ข Attend Project Management (PM) compliance review meetings and project status meetings, as required. โ€ข Follow-up with Project Managers (PMs) on outstanding compliance items, documentation gaps, and reporting requirements. โ€ข Assist in tracking compliance against PMO methodology, standards, and governance. โ€ข Support the maintenance of compliance tracking sheets (e.g. documentation completeness, project submission, change requests). โ€ข Assist with drafting meeting minutes and action items for compliance related meetings. Project Online Replacement Project Support โ€ข Provide administrative support to the Project Online replacement project. โ€ข Assist in maintaining project plans, schedules, and deliverables under the guidance of the Project Manager. โ€ข Assist with testing, documentation, and user-support materials as required during the project lifecycle. General PMO Support โ€ข Support ad-hoc Project Management Office (PMO) activities, analysis, and administrative tasks as assigned. โ€ข Assist in maintaining PMO SharePoint site reference material, templates, and records. โ€ข Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to PMO processes, tools, and reporting. Qualifications/special skillsTo qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, applicants must meet one of the following requirements: a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or, b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the FINAL academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent). Skills Required โ€ข Familiarity with basic project management concepts and project lifecycles. โ€ข Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams). โ€ข Exposure to project or work management tools (e.g. Project Online, Planner, or similar) is an asset. โ€ข Knowledge of collaboration and document management platforms such as SharePoint Online and of Data Analytic tools such as PowerBI is an asset.
