Position Overview
Pact seeks a Project Director to lead the implementation of an anticipated US Department of Labor (DOL) funded Project to Combat Child Labor and Promote Acceptable Conditions of Work in Tanzaniaโs Artisanal and Small-Scale Gold Mining Sector in Tanzania. The project seeks to improve implementation of laws, policies, and action plans to combat child labor (CL) and promote Acceptable Conditions of Work (ACW) in artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM).
This position is contingent upon award of funding and the exact position title, requirements, and responsibilities may change if dictated by DOL.
Key Responsibilities
Specific duties to be carried out by the successful candidate include:
Manage and coordinate the implementation of activities across project partners, ensuring successful integration of activities.Liaise closely with Pact Regional Director and Finance team, and Pactโs U.S. team to ensure that all project activities are compliant with USG rules and regulations, as well as consistent with Pactโs policies, procedures and best practices.Oversee project planning (i.e., development of work plans and project budget), monitoring and reporting (i.e., review and approve periodic budgets and technical and financial reports) in accordance with the highest standards.Oversee project budget and work in close coordination with project and Pact DC finance leadership to meet expected results, ensuring cost-effective use of donor and Pactโs resources.Support the implementation of a highly adaptive, context-driven programmatic approach.Provide strategic management and oversight of the projectโs partner portfolio.Manage a team of flexible and adaptive employees and oversee evidence-based adjustments in programming to achieve greater impact.Oversee project staff in helping partners establish reporting and tracking systems to provide key information in an efficient and timely manner.Ensure the program meets programmatic and financial targets and makes accurate projections.Represent the project at conferences, working groups, and meetings to support DOL and Pactโs thought leadership in combatting Child Labor and Promoting Acceptable Conditions of Work.Ensure that Pactโs project operations in Tanzania are compliant with national laws and regulations, and that Pactโs good reputation is maintained.Champion and disseminate Pactโs values and strategic priorities to other staff.
