ย Context
The international Organization for Migration is an intergovernmental organization founded in 1951, committed to the principle that migrants and society benefit from orderly migration that respects human dignity. As a leading international organization in the field of migration, IOM works with its partners in the international community to help meet the growing challenges of managing migration flows, foster understanding of migration issues, promote economic and social development through migration, and work towards respect for human dignity and the well-being of migrants.
Since 2016, IOM has been operating in the Comoros, working on voluntary return and reintegration of vulnerable migrants; migration governance; disaster risk management; counter-trafficking; border and immigration management; and diaspora mobilization.
IOM is implementing the IOM Development Fund funded project โSupporting the Governement of Comoros in the development of the National Migration Policyโ, whose overall objective is to contribute to improve policy frameworks that facilitate and support migration governance in Comoros and enhance the benefits of migration for national development;ย and is recruiting a Project Associate for its Country Office in Moroni.
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Office (HoO) in Comoros, the Project Associate will carry out the following duties and responsibilities:
1. Support the technical implementation of all activities related to the achievement of the above-mentioned project objectives.
2. Support the preparation of monthly work plans and progress reports, and the collection and compilation of necessary information to monitor and evaluate project implementation.
3. Contribute to verify with the Administration and Finance Unit, the control of the execution of project expenditures, and in the review of the financial performance of activities, with regard to the budget validated by the donor, and in application of IOM's internal norms and regulations.
4. Provide technical and administrative support for the implementation of training workshops, capacity building, working meetings and other conferences implemented within the framework of the project.
5. Provide administrative and logistical support prior to and during missions and trips by experts, facilitators and other external participants to Comoros.
6. Contribute to establishing and maintaining ongoing and dynamic working relations with the national lead counterpart, other relevant partners and UN agencies.
7. Proactively assist with identifying problems in the technical implementation of the project and refer them to the Head of Office for appropriate action.
8. Contribute at the technical level in working meetings.
9. Perform other duties as may be assigned
Education
- Masterโs degree in social Sciences or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or
- University degree in the above fields with four years of relevant professional experience. Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. ย Experience
- Experience working for the United Nations, an official mission, non-governmental organization or relevant government department a distinct advantage;
- Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations
- Knowledge and understanding of the migration issues in the country.
- Strong work ethics and commitment to humanitarian principles;
- Ability to work under time constraints and deadlines in challenging settings;
- Capacity to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from various cultures and professional background;
- Ability to work independently, with flexibility; Skills

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good knowledge of Word, Excel and Interne Languages
