Comoros has been a member state of the organization since 2013, and IOM Mission for Madagascar and Comoros, based in Madagascar, represents the organization to the Union Government and national partners and coordinates the implementation of programs by the IOM Country Office in Moroni, Comoros.ย
IOM is implementing the European Union funded project โData Action on Mixed Migration in Sub-Saharan Africaโ, whose overall objective isย to create a cohesive sub-continental data system, harmonizing collection, analysis, and dissemination across Sub-Saharan Africa;ย and is recruiting a Project Assistant for its Country Office in Moroni.
- Support the technical implementation of all activities related to the achievement of the above-mentioned project objectives.
- Support the preparation of monthly work plans and progress reports, and the collection and compilation of necessary information to monitor and evaluate project implementation.
- Contribute to verify with the Administration and Finance Unit, the control of the execution of project expenditures, and in the review of the financial performance of activities, with regard to the budget validated by the donor, and in application of IOM's internal norms and regulations.
- Provide technical and administrative support for the implementation of training workshops, capacity building, working meetings and other conferences implemented within the framework of the project.
- Provide administrative and logistical support prior to and during missions and trips by experts, facilitators and other external participants to Comoros.
- Contribute to establishing and maintaining ongoing and dynamic working relations with the national lead counterpart, other relevant partners and UN agencies.
- Proactively assist with identifying problems in the technical implementation of the project and refer them to the Head of Office for appropriate action.
- Contribute at the technical level in working meetings. Education
- Completed high School degree from an accredited academic institution, with threeย years of relevant professional experience; or
- University degree in Political or Social Science, Law, International Relations, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with at least one year of relevant professional experience. - Experience in protection mechanisms/referral pathways for addressing individual needs of vulnerable groups
- Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups
- Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations
- Knowledge and understanding of the migration issues in the country is an advantage.
- Experience of working in the United Nations system is an advantage. Skills

- Excellent knowledge of standard IT tools. Languages
- For all applicants, fluency in French and English is required (oral and written).
