Org. Setting and ReportingThe Programme Officer is part of the Digital Transformation Team (DTT) for UN Peacekeeping. The Programme Officer reports to the Director of DTT, in the Office for Coordination and Shared Services in the Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs and Department of Peace Operations Shared Structure. The Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (DPPA) focuses primarily on five action areas in international peace and security, ensuring sound analysis and early warning, preventing conflict and engaging in peacemaking, managing political crises and violent conflicts, sustaining peace, and enhancing partnerships. The Department's mandate is to prevent and resolve conflict through inclusive political solutions. The Department of Peace Operations (DPO) provides political and executive direction to UN peacekeeping operations around the world and maintains contact with the Security Council, troop and financial contributors, and parties to the conflict in the implementation of Security Council mandates. The Department works to integrate the efforts of UN, governmental and nongovernmental entities in the context of peacekeeping operations. DPO also provides guidance and support on military, police, rule of law, mine action and other relevant issues to other UN political and peacebuilding missions. ResponsibilitiesWithin delegated authority, and under the supervision of the head of the Digital Transformation Team, the Programme Officer will be responsible for the following duties: โข Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned workstreams/projects,etc.; monitors and analyzes workstreams/project development and implementation; reviews relevant documents and reports; identifies problems and issues to be addressed and proposes corrective actions; liaises with relevant parties; identifies and tracks follow-up actions. โข Tracks and monitors project progress against plan, business requirements, quality measures, standard processes; liaises with clients on all aspects and during all phases of development and implementation of major workstreams. โข Researches, analyzes and presents information gathered from diverse sources regarding peacekeeping data and digital challenges and solutions. โข Undertakes survey initiatives; designs data collection tools; reviews, analyzes and interprets responses, identifies problems/issues and prepares conclusions. โข Prepares various written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analysis, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications, etc. โข Provides substantive support to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc., to include proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations, etc. โข Undertakes outreach activities; conducts training workshops, seminars, etc.; makes presentations on assigned topics/activities. โข Participates in or lead field missions, including provision of guidance to external consultants, government officials and other parties and drafting mission summaries, etc. โข Coordinates activities related to budget and funding (programme/project preparation and submissions, progress reports, financial statements, etc.) and prepares related documents/reports (pledging, work programme, programme budget, etc.). โข Performs other duties as required. Work ExperienceA minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, administration or related area is required. A minimum of one year of experience working in or in support of peacekeeping operations is required. A minimum of one year of experience working on digital transformation and/or innovation is required. Experience working on data collection, management and analysis is required.
