Work LocationHybrid/In-Person; Flexible Expected duration3-6 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe United Nations Secretary-General is responsible for the investment of the assets of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF). The Secretary-General has delegated this responsibility to the Representative of the Secretary-General for the investment of the assets of the UNJSPF (RSG). The RSG is, in turn, assisted in this function by the Office of Investment Management (OIM). OIM manages a $90+ billion multi-asset class, global investment portfolio, about 85% of which is actively managed in-house. Asset classes under management comprise of global equities, fixed income, foreign exchange, private equity, real estate, infrastructure, timber and commodities. This internship is located in the Enterprise Programme & Vendor Management Office (EPVMO) unit of the Strategic Management Office (SMO) section of OIM. The SMO operates at the enterprise level, promotes organizational development, and ensures alignment with both short- and long-term goals. The EPVMO purpose is to help execute strategic goals, ensuring that the OIM program of work is fully aligned with OIMโ€™s overall purpose, mission, vision and values. The intern reports to the Programme Officer in the EPVMO team. The intern will support the team in strengthening and further maturing the EPMO framework, as well as collecting and analyzing relevant data in order to provide actionable insights. Tasks will include: โ€ข Review and update all EPMO SOPs and templates to ensure they are current and comprehensive. โ€ข Assist in gathering and maintaining Meisterplan data for projects, ensuring accuracy and completeness. โ€ข Conduct research on transitioning from Meisterplan to ServiceNow, including writing a whitepaper on ServiceNow SPM capabilities. โ€ข Propose a new SharePoint site and folder structure to organize and classify files, and assist in migrating data from old PMO/VMO SharePoint sites. โ€ข Research and propose an improved intake management process to streamline project initiation. โ€ข Research and propose an improved capacity planning process to enhance resource allocation. โ€ข Develop a whitepaper on relevant CoPilot prompts related to programme and project management. โ€ข Analyze current manual tasks and propose automated solutions using tools like SharePoint Lists, Microsoft Forms, Power Automate, and PowerBI. Qualifications/special skillsApplicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelorโ€™s degree or equivalent). Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work. experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Masterโ€™s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelorโ€™s, Masterโ€™s or PH.D. Good communication and collaboration, problem-solving and critical thinking, and time management and planning skills are desirable. Applicants must have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS SharePoint, and MS Teams. Ability to draft whitepapers based on research tailored to programme and project management topics is desirable. Knowledge of Business Intelligence tools (e.g. PowerBI, Tableau, etc) is desirable. Knowledge of MS Copilot, prompt engineering, and AI is desirable. Knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g. Waterfall, Agile, etc) is desirable. Experience with PPPM tools (e.g. Microsoft Project, ServiceNow SPM, PlanViewer, etc) is desirable LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.
