Organizational Context and Purpose for the job

Cuba Program Priorities and Partnerships

 The program is aligned with three of the four results of the Framework of United Nations Cooperation for Sustainable Development 2020-2024 and with the goals and objectives of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The program will be implemented through strategic partnerships with the Government national and territorial level, academic institutions, civil society organizations civilian and other United Nations organizations, under the direction and coordination of the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment.

Cuba program will focus on three priority areas, identified in consultation with national entities and that will be aligned with the National Development Plan Economic and Social until 2030, the Sustainable Development Goals and three of the five goals of the UNICEF Strategic Plan 2018-2021:

Purpose for the job: 

Under the supervision and guidance of the Health and Nutrition Officer, the Programme Associate at the G-7 level supports the respective section by carrying out a range of programme support functions to help develop, implement and monitor their country programme, ensuring effective and timely delivery that is consistent with UNICEF rules and regulations. The Programme Associate works in close collaboration with a range of staff in the CO, external partners and government counterparts in support of programme design and delivery.

The following minimum requirements:

• Education: Completion of pre-university or technical school is required. University degree related to the field will be an asset. 
• Work Experience: At least 7 years of administrative or clerical work experience is required. Three (3) years and an additional two (2) years of experience may be substituted for candidates holding a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree, respectively. Prior relevant experience in programme support functions and work experience and/or familiarity with emergency are desirable.  Relevant experience in UN system or international cooperation sector is considered as an asset.
• Language Requirements:  Fluency in Spanish and proficient working knowledge of English are required.

Should you be selected for a position with UNICEF, you either must be inoculated as required or receive a medical exemption from the relevant department of the UN. Otherwise, the selection will be canceled.
