ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT AND SCOPE:
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Thailand implements a range of national and regional projects aiming at addressing migration challenges and delivering increased protection and assistance to vulnerable migrants in partnership with government, civil society and private sector counterparts.
Under the Protection Unit, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Thailand implements a range of national and regional projects aimed at addressing migration challenges and delivering increased protection and assistance to vulnerable migrants in partnership with government, civil society and private sector counterparts. Through research, policy interventions, capacity-building and outreach, these projects aim to develop sustainable solutions to reduce systemic vulnerabilities and to provide increased support to vulnerable migrants, including victims of trafficking, internally displaced persons, refugees, asylum seekers, unaccompanied minors, and exploited and abused migrants.
IOM also supports the development of sustainable solutions to reduce systemic vulnerabilities and to provide increased support to vulnerable migrants, including stranded migrants, victims of trafficking, asylum seekers, unaccompanied minors, and exploited and abused migrants. In addition, IOM provisions a protection and assistance to vulnerable and stranded migrants, assistance for voluntary return, as well as the reintegration of migrants through a wide range of services, in line with IOMโs integrated approach to reintegration. This includes reintegration counselling as well as economic, social and psychosocial assistance at the individual, collective and community levels.
Under the overall supervision of the National Project Officer, and the direct supervision of the Senior Programme Assistant (Counter Trafficking) in Bangkok, the Programme Assistant (Case Worker) will be responsible for supporting the implementation and monitoring of protection activities in Thailand.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Provide overall support in the day-to day implementation of protection interventions under IOM Thailandโs Protection portfolio, including timely delivery, quality control, administrate matters follow-up and financial support in line with IOM polices, and procedures and donor requirements;Carry out individual sessions with vulnerable migrants (VoTs, UMSC, etc.), apply screening and vulnerability assessments, provide in-kind assistance and referral services to protection actors in line with IOMs protection principles and approaches;Maintain beneficiary profiles and needs assessments, through collecting vulnerability data, document and filing case records in IOM database (MiMOSA) in accordance with IOM Data Protection Principles;Assist with the administration of surveys to assess level and progress of in-kind assistance and referral services;Assist in the coordination of protection support with IOM counterparts, and other protection actors, including family tracing, reunification, and verification, particularly for unaccompanied or separated migrant children, including referral services and further assistance;Support the protection team in organizing capacity building program and intervention sessions on victim identification, screening and referral of vulnerable migrants, including victims of trafficking and migrant children;Maintain positive relations with local implementing actors and stakeholders for the successful and timely implementation of technical and capacity building support as well as protection services to vulnerable migrants;Support preparation and timely submission of monthly monitoring reports;Undertake duty travel as required; andPerform such other duties as may be assigned.QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
EDUCATION
โข Bachelorโs degree in social worker, law, international relations, political science, social science, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with at least two years of relevant professional experience, or
โข High school diploma with at least four years of relevant professional experience.
Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
EXPERIENCE
โข Experience working for non-governmental organizations, international governmental organizations or government institutions;
โข Experience working on the protection and assistance of vulnerable migrant populations;
โข Experience of counter-trafficking interventions will be considered an asset;
โข Experience working in a multi-cultural environment and demonstrated capacity to respect diversity.
SKILLS
โข Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality is mandatory;
โข Sound knowledge of programme implementation and evaluation;
โข Proven understanding of migration dynamics in Thailand and of vulnerabilities experienced by migrant populations;
โข Demonstrated knowledge of information technology and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and SharePoint.
LANGUAGES
