Work LocationIn-person (New York), Remote, Hybrid, Flexible Expected duration6 months This is a GJO used to build a pool of qualified candidates and will be used to fill internship vacancies between 1 July 2025 and 31 December 2026. Duties and ResponsibilitiesWe seek motivated interns to support the work of the United Nations Operations and Crisis Centre (UNOCC) Front Office. The UNOCC provides decision-making support to UN senior leadership as part of the Executive Office of the Secretary-General. The UNOCC is an integrated information and crisis hub providing cross-pillar analytics, situational awareness, and support to risk and crisis management, and its products are oriented towards supporting senior-level decision-making. The Intern will report to full-time professional staff in the UNOCC Front Office and support the work of the office. Qualifications/special skillsCompetency: We are looking for a team player who is collaborative, reliable, and communicative, consistently working to support their teammates and the team's goals. Academic Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelorโ€™s degree or equivalent). Experience: Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. We seek candidates with relevant coursework in the broader thematic areas of political science, international relations, human rights or related fields. Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
