Organizational Setting

The project objective is to contribute to the national processes of strengthening family farmers in Brazil for poverty reduction and rural revitalization. The outcome is to implement differentiated policies and programs that improve the capacities of the national government, local and family farmers in areas such as ATER (rural extension and technical advisory services), Credit Programs, land access and governance, access to markets and the strengthening of cooperativism.
Reporting Lines
The incumbent reports to the Assistant Representative in FAO Brazil โ Programme.
Technical Focus
Carry out a study on the social and environmental impacts of pesticides, as well as the preparation of recommendations for the action of the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Family Agriculture on the subject of pesticides.
Tasks and Responsibilities
โข ย ย Elaborate syntheses with the strategy for the formulation of programs and public policy actions. The resulting products must be accompanied by documents in the form of executive summaries or policy briefings.
โข ย ย Elaborate visual resources such as graphs, tables, charts, \"Box\", Infographics, syntheses, etc., to contribute to the strategies of access and dissemination of information;
โข ย ย Provide scientific references for the preparation of evidence maps of the impact of the use of pesticides on health and the environment, and for the production of healthy food from family farming.
โข ย ย Contribute technically to the activities of the Group of Experts in Agrosociobiodiversity (GEA) of the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Family Agricultureย
โข ย ย Prepare and formulate documents (products):
- Technical document containing an analysis of the impacts of legal changes on the procedures for pesticide registration in Brazil, as well as on the responsibilities of public agencies in implementing control measures for pesticide use in the country.
- Technical document containing an assessment of the current pesticide approval framework in Brazil, identification of areas for improvement, and a comparative analysis with the global pesticide regulatory framework.
- Preparation of a technical document containing a detailed analysis of the National Program for the Reduction of Pesticides (PRONARA), currently under development with the participation of this Ministry. The document shall provide technical inputs, strategic recommendations, and proposed actions to support the effective implementation of the program, as well as the achievement of its goals and guidelines.
- Technical document containing proposals and strategies for disseminating information and knowledge on the topic of pesticides in Brazil, taking into account the potential contributions of PNAPO and PRONARA within this context.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING:ย
Minimum Requirements ย
โข ย ย Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Sciences or Human Sciences, according to the CAPES/CNPq table of areas of knowledge.
โข ย ย Minimum of 08 (eight) years of experience with research on topics related to the use and impacts of pesticides.
โข ย ย Working knowledge of Portuguese, English or Spanish.
โข ย ย National of Brazil or resident of the country with valid work permit.
