There’s something special about spending your days alongside like-minded people, just as committed to purposeful work as you. At Save the Children Australia, we attract bright and big-hearted people who are inspired to make a difference. Together, we are fearless in our pursuit of making lasting change for the children and communities who need it most.
A place to make a difference:
In this full-time maximum term 2-year role, you’ll work as a part of our Pacific Regional Program Development and Quality team to help us create lasting change for children in the Pacific. The Pacific Evidence & Learning for Innovation (E&L4I) Advisor plays an important role in delivering on our vision of a better world for children in the Pacific. Whether it’s supporting Pacific country offices to design monitoring and evaluation strategies to test the impact of interventions, or encouraging an organisational culture for innovation, knowledge sharing and continuous learning, you’ll be contributing to our commitment to children in the Pacific.
This role can be done remotely, but you will be based in / have the right to work in Australia, New Zealand or a Pacific country where Save the Children Australia has a presence (PNG / Vanuatu / Solomon Islands). If you do not have current and full work rights in any of these locations, we will unfortunately not be able to accept your application for the role.
You will make a difference by:
· Developing and supporting monitoring and evaluation strategies and plans for the Pacific 2025-29 ANCP projects, with a focus on quasi-experimental design to test interventions and build the evidence-base of projects.
· Establishing and maintaining high-quality monitoring and evaluation systems, ensuring that country offices are trained and equipped for routine data collection, analysis and use of evidence.
· Leading statistical data analysis of monitoring data collected to build evidence of interventions and approaches being tested through ANCP projects.
· Promoting an organizational culture for innovation, knowledge sharing and continuous cross learning, including through co-leading a Regional Community of Practice with a cross-section of staff from across Pacific COs focussed on learning from evidence for innovation, program implementation, scaling and decision-making.
· Supporting the development and dissemination of learning products for ANCP projects, such as fact sheets, policy briefs, policy position papers and publications.
· Acting as the in-house expert and advisor on integrating data analytics into programming, including through the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques.
A place to feel valued:
You are an analytical thinker with significant expertise in monitoring, evaluation and learning. You deeply believe in the importance of rigorous evidence to drive innovation, testing-to-scale of interventions and learning to continuously improve programming. With exceptional inter-personal and cultural sensitivity skills, you are committed to capacity building, including through training, coaching and mentoring. You will be determined to make a difference.
This role requires:
· At least 7 years of experience in a monitoring, evaluation and learning related role within a development and/or humanitarian context.
· Advanced knowledge of complex survey design, sampling methods and statistical analysis, including applying these designs and methods in low-resource settings.
· Advanced experience in designing monitoring and evaluation strategies, plans and systems for projects, including using quasi-experimental designs.
· Advanced proficiency in Kobo Toolbox and quantitative data analysis software, including Excel, as well as experience in using AI and machine learning for program insights and analysis.
· Experience in leading MEL capacity building and knowledge management and organisational learning processes to help drive improvements in evidence understanding and uptake.
· Excellent written and verbal communications skills, and an ability to produce and disseminate high quality learning outputs to a variety of audiences.
· Willing to travel to country and field offices in the Pacific
A place to belong:
