Come join our Pacific team and use your technical expertise to address climate change, including working on the largest community-based adaptation project ever delivered in the Pacific! Based in Vanuatu, your role will help us deliver high quality results for vulnerable Pacific families and children through our rapidly growing climate change portfolio.

Where you come in:
Reporting to the Pacific Regional PDQ Director, you will be part of the Pacific PDQ team, and be responsible for providing intensive technical support and strategic guidance for climate change work across Save the Children Country Offices in the Pacific, including Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, Tonga and Papua New Guinea, as well as providing specific support to our Vanuatu Community-based Climate Resilience project (VCCRP).
This is a full-time position, permanent based in Vanuatu. To apply for the role, you need to already be based in the Pacific region, Australia or New Zealand.
You will make an impact by:
· Leading on advancing our Pacific Regional Strategy to ensure Pacific communities have the capacity to adapt to climate change.
· Providing technical leadership in the design and implementation of climate change programming.
· Developing technical climate change resources to use in Save the Children’s and partner programming.
· Building capacity in relation to evidence-based climate change adaptation and locally-led adaptation programming and approaches.
· Working with MEAL teams to establish systems for measuring and monitoring the quality of our climate change work.
· Leading on organisational and partner learning on climate change.
Does this sound like you?
….. You are currently Vanuatu-based, or are a Pacific, Australian or New Zealand national and are willing to relocate to Port Vila for the role. You are a leader in the climate field in the Pacific context. Your experience has seen you contribute to transformative program design, implementation and monitoring. Your outstanding communication skills, flexibility and resilience will see you achieve great outcomes for vulnerable families and children whilst working with multiple teams and stakeholders.
This role requires:
· At least 7 years of experience working in the Pacific on climate change programming or a strongly related field (i.e. environment, conservation, biodiversity)
· Advance knowledge of complementary approaches to climate change adaptation / mitigation in the Pacific, including in areas of agriculture, food security and livelihoods.
· Strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesise and process quantitative and qualitative information on development and climate change issues.
· Familiarity with the Green Climate Fund and other global climate finance mechanisms.
· Proven track record of developing successful funding proposal and tenders for climate programs, and successful design and implementation of climate change programs.
· Experience in integrating climate change into planned and/or ongoing development programs, strategies, and policies.
· Demonstrated ability to build the capacity of non-technical program staff in evidence-based approaches.
